KARACHI: After much controversy, the vice chancellor of Sindh University, Dr Nazir Mughal, was sent on leave on Tuesday by the governor, who is the chancellor of all public-sector universities. Protests have gone on for more than a month against Mughal after a professor was murdered on campus in Hyderabad. No classes were taking place as faculty demanded the VC be removed. Pro-vice chancellor Dr Parveen Shah was asked to replace Dr Mughal as acting vice chancellor. Dr Arfana Mallah, who was sacked by SU over protesting, told The Express Tribune, however, the teachers rejected the decision and would continue to strike until Mughal was completely removed from office.
