An appeal was filed in the Federal Services Tribunal on Monday against the Federal Minister for Housing and Works Faisal Saleh Hayat for allegedly appointing a grade-18 official Asim Ayub, on grade-19 post of estate officer on deputation. Joint Estate Officer Pir Ashraf while filing the appeal, said that according to the government rules an official can only be promoted to grade-19, they cannot be appointed in this grade on deputation from outside.
“According to the SRO-2008 (270-1), the post of estate officer can only be taken by additional estate officer or joint estate officer,” he said. Ashraf stated in his appeal, that at the time of Ayub’s appointment, Additional Estate Officer Anwar Khattak (of grade-18) and several joint estate officers including Ashraf, were serving-- making them the rightful candidates of the post. He added that during the minister’s term the deserving officers did not get promoted, however an official from outside the department was appointed as the estate officer through a notification on December 25, 2011.
The case will be presented for hearing in the tribunal on Tuesday (today).
