After losing a number of irreplaceable entertainers in 2011, one wondered if 2012 would be any better; sadly, the year kick-started with yet another grave loss to the Pakistani entertainment industry. Tamanna Begum, a well-known film and TV actor passed away, after prolonged illness, on Monday morning at the age of 75. She is survived by a daughter and a granddaughter.
Starting off her career from Radio Pakistan, Tamanna Begum later ventured into theatre and films and it was these fields that enabled her to register herself as one of the most sought-after actor. She has popular films like Dekha Jayega to her credit and her comic roles, especially the boisterous performances with legendary Pakistani comedian Lehri, were lauded by all. The actor reached the zenith of her career during the 70s, when the Lollywood industry was at its cinematic best. Her popularity, however, started to decelerate with the decline of the film industry in the 80s and that is when she shifted her focus to TV.
Film critic Nawab Huzoorul Hasan recalls her acting prowess and says, “She was one of those who could play any character with perfection. However, what she was largely known for was her comic characters and her perfect screen timing. Undoubtedly, it is a terrible loss to the film industry.”

The entertainment industry believes in the "suryavanshi" cult. They worship the rising sun only.
For Tammana begum, the sun has set. May her soul rest in peace. Ameen.
We grew up watching her. We'll grow old with her memory. RIP.
Its a very sad news . RIP . She will be missed. She was a legend .
May Allah give her peace and comfort - Ameen, there countless channels these days but hardly any, ever taken her interview; especially abundant morning shows, after every other week they start Shadi week, or take interviews of same people they have taken interview of, somebody tell them these legends deserve to be heard for the betterment of our film industry and tv dramas, how many of these legends are left today? who enjoyed & seen the peak of our film industry?
very sad news..May Allah rest her soul in peace Ameen
@NASIR - She did work after that, Mehndi being one of her most popular dramas. Mere Sawariya ka Naam was probably her last drama. I think she stopped working because she felt that she gave so much to Pakistan and when she needed some support, no one was there for her.
May Allah rest her soul in peace. Ameen
Inna lilahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon ! RIP
She had been on dialysis for some time now, undergoing treatment at SIUT. Her interview on youtube about it really made me cry. Really hypocritical how most people and media outlets ignored her while she was alive, now sending prayers her way when she is at peace.
May Allah grant her jannat, forgive her sins, and give peace to her loved ones.
RIP ma'am!
It is unfortunate that none of the people with whom she performed on Stage, TV and Films were present during her Namaz-e-Janaza.
The brilliant actress who was a star of her time, was left alone during her hard days.
Inna Lila hi wa Inalilahe Rajioon.
May Allah bestow his blessings on her while she rests in Peace. Inshallha, she shall reside forever in heaven. Ameen.
R.I.P........
RIP
