Balochistan shut down for third day to protest target killing of political leaders

Human rights organisations called for an end to enforced disappearances and target killings of political opponents.

QUETTA: A complete shutter down strike was observed in Baloch dominated parts of Balochistan for the third consecutive day on Thursday to protest the murder of Baloch Republican Party (BRP) leader Sangat Sana Baloch.

The strike had been called was given by the BRP, Baloch National Movement (BNM) and Baloch Students Organisation (BSO-Azad). Other nationalist parties had supported their shutter down call.

All business and trade activities in Khuzdar, Panjgur, Gwadar, Turbat, Pasni, Mastung, Mongechar, Awaran, Kharan, Masky, Tump, Bulieda, Hushap,  Naushki, Dalbandin, Kalat and Hub came to a halt. Government offices, banks, educational institutions and commercial establishments remained closed for the third consecutive day in these areas causing inconvenience to the general people.

Meanwhile, the Baloch Human Rights Organisation (BHRO) staged a protest demonstration outside the Quetta Press Club on Thursday to lodge their protest against the enforced disappearances and killing of Baloch politicians.

They chanted the slogans against State functionaries accusing them of violating human rights in Balochistan. They condemned the killing of Sana Sangat, Jan Mohammad Baloch and Bhakhsal Bugti.

They called upon International Human Right Organisations, United Nations and International Community to take notice to the gross human rights violations in Balochistan.

Khuzdar trader shot dead

Unknown assailants shot dead a well known trader Hafiz Abdul Qader Gulamani in Jilani Chowk , Khuzdar district on Thursday.

According to the police, Hafiz Abdul Qader Gulamani was buying vegetables on the Jinnah Road near Jilani Chowk when unknown armed men fired at him, killing him instantly.

Police rushed to the spot soon after the incident. His body was taken to the District Headquarter’s Hospital for autopsy.

The motive behind the murder could not be immediately ascertained.

A case has been registered against the unknown persons and police investigations are underway.

The body was handed over to his relatives for burial after legal formalities were completed.

A conspiracy is being hatched against the integrity of the country,shouldn't disregard foreign agencies are operating behind the conspiracy.

It is dire need of the time,we should put aside all difference and assembled on the one point agenda that is safety of the country.
