ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday sought para-wise comments from the Joint Investigation Team chairman, Industrial Area Police station house officer and other respondents in a petition for the repatriation of Ziaur Rahman from the Dubai police's custody.

Zia’s father, Mukhtar Ahmad Sindhu who is the petitioner in the case, revealed before the court that his son frequently travelled around the world for his import-export business. He pleaded that his son was detained by the authorities on the directives of the government when he departed for Dubai on January 2,” he said.

He added that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Islamabad inspector general of police were handed over documentary evidences that Zia was out of country when Bhatti was gunned down in Islamabad.

He said that after Zia’s detention the concerned authorities are not willing to bring that evidence on record.
