The situation in the neighbourhood turned violent after two young men belonging to Kutchi Rabta Committee (KRC) were kidnapped and tortured by the People's Aman Committee members. The youth were later released but were sprayed with bullets, which left one dead. The other, however, managed to escape.
The residents of Lyari came out to protest against the killing, which was followed by a clash between two armed groups.
More than 100 policemen along with Central Investigation Department Senior Superintendent (CID SSP) Chaudhry Aslam, are now present in the area, however no arrest has been made so far.
The residents of the area are restricted to their house and the shops have been closed.

There needs to be a permanent Rangers / paramilitary presence in Lyari and it seems like shoot-on-sight orders might be the only thing that will have any effect whatsoever on the "gangsters" (who use RPGs right in the middle of Karachi?) work there, but oh no, the PPP and their spineless liberal cronies will call that "appalling abuse of human rights" while their People's Amn Committee friends torture people to death. This place is Karachi's armpit. Any coincidence that it's the only PPP stronghold in Karachi?
Police should control the situation immediatly
Rocket launchers and guns used in street battle.
What kind of street battle is that? What would be next.. Tanks used in street battle.. the other gang used drones...??
All those guys carrying Ak's should be taken in and hanged.....no civilan should have that with them.
Police and Rangers have not taken Lyari gangsters issue seriously and this is one of the reasons that violence erupt time and again in Lyari.
If a grand operation cleanup is done for once and for all, I am confident that no bad guy would be able to act violently.
