LAHORE: Justice Khalid Mehmood of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the Punjab Police to submit till March 6 the complete record of constable recruitments during 2010 after hearing arguments on a petition filed by a candidate who allegedly was not interviewed even though he met merit. Petitioner, Hafiz Irfan, through his counsel Murid Ali Bhutta questioned the transparency in the Police Department’s recruitments. Irfan said he passed the written test but was not called on for an interview. Instead, he said, candidates lower than him in the merit list were called in for interviews and selected. A deputy attorney general said the petitioner candidate was called for and interview but he could not pass it. Justice Mehmood asked, “How can he fail in an interview for which he was not called?” The judge passed directions for submitting complete record of constable recruitments during 2010.
