LAHORE:

The All Pakistan Music Conference on Friday night hosted a musical night to mark the seventh death anniversary of Hayat Ahmad, one of its founding members and long-serving secretary.

The musical night showcased blind dhrupad classical singer Aliya Rasheed and Pakhawaj player Allah Lok Qadri.

Qadri’s participation had been uncertain because of health issues.

When he showed up, he was greeted with roaring applause.

The hour-long performance showcased several classical raagas.

Aliya Rasheed’s performance with Allah Lok Qadri included some of the oldest Dhrupad compositions.

Allah Lok Qadri, had a solo act, where he played the Pakhawaj.

His son also accompanied him during one of his acts.

Anum Hafeez, a student, said that she had recently started attending such musical evenings because of the high quality of music. “That is all that matters,” she said.
