The military fired artillery shells at three suspected hideouts in the Mamozai area of Kurram, where dozens of people have been killed in fierce fighting between Pakistani soldiers and insurgents in the last few weeks.
The death toll could not be independently verified and militants often dispute official accounts.
The Pakistani Taliban, allied with al Qaeda, and the Afghan Taliban movement fighting Western forces in Afghanistan, are entrenched in Pakistan's northwestern tribal areas.
A series of military offensives have failed to break the group. But there has been a lull in major Taliban suicide bombings in recent months.
The military has been conducting operations against militants in Kurram since the beginning of the year.
Kurram's harsh terrain limits the movement of ground forces, and gunship helicopters and bombers are often called in for support.

Death To TTP
I am at a total lost. Drone strikes are from the air and artillery shells from the ground, both at a distance. Both are munitions that kill. While drones kill innocent people, artillery shells do not. Has Pakistan developed a way for these shells to avoid Civilians?
The soldier in the Photo has a Long Big Beard. The Uniforms aren`t looking good on the soldiers and i think these wont be suitable too for military operations since they are loose & dangling which means they could get stuck in bushes and rocks. Safety Guards for Ankles, Elbows, Gloves needs to be provided since during fire fight, they will have to dive/drop down and would hit hard on to the stones. Also, Sun Glasses needs to be provided since the region is very bright and the light could be blinding.
But then, who cares about the soldiers working in hostile environments, & all that matters is the extension of the rule of the Generals.

Good news. Appreciate the military resolve to wipe out the criminal gangs. Slow but steady.
