KARACHI: A spokesperson for Efroze Chemical Industries stated that the company “deeply regretted” the Punjab Institute of Cardiology medicine disaster, according to a press release. The spokesperson said the company realised its moral and social responsibility, sympathised with individuals and families who had become victims in the “tragedy” and was extending cooperation and support to both the federal and Punjab government in their investigations of Isotab tablets, the pill blamed for the deaths. Efroze, according to the press statement, is also carrying out investigations on its own end, while adding that “the possibility of sabotage could not be ruled out”. The spokesperson urged all concerned to prevent disinformation being spread about the incident as this would “cause tremendous and irreparable damage” to the industry’s interests.
