FAISALABAD: The Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) on Wednesday launched a clean-up operation to remove garbage and litter from unused plots in the city. This was announced by District Officer (Municipal Services) Chaudhry Anwar Saeed. The DO said that the clean-up operation has been started in four towns and will continue for two months. The towns are: Madina Town, Lyallpur Town, Jinnah Town and Iqbal Town. He said plot owners should ensure that there was no garbage in their plots after they were cleaned. He said strict action would be taken against plot owners if they did not cooperate with the SWMD officials. Their plots, he said, will be converted into dumps. He said that the deputy district officers of these towns have been directed to supervise the cleanup operation. A sanitary inspector will issue a certificate to the plot owners after their plots were cleaned.
