SSGC shock NBP in hockey championship

Defending champions lose 2-1, HBL beat PAF 4-3.

SSGC handed out a shock 2-1 defeat to defending champions NBP at the National Hockey Championship, while HBL beat PAF 4-3 in a thrilling encounter.


Usman Tariq put SSGC ahead in the 10th minute before Mohammad Atiq equalised 13 minutes later. The scores were level until the 56th minute when SSGC captain Shakeel Abbasi scored the winner.

In the day’s other match, HBL’s Mohammad Sardar scored a 14th-minute opener before Mohammad Asif doubled the lead six minutes later. PAF’s Zeeshan Dilshad halved the deficit with a 37th-minute strike. Mohammad Ejaz then equalised in the 53rd minute before his second took PAF in the lead.

The sea-saw battle continued with HBL’s Rizwan Khan netting in the 67th minute before Mohammad Ehsan made it 4-3 in the 69th to seal the win.

Meanwhile, Wapda beat PHF Academy 4-1, while Army drew against Navy 1-1.
