Nawaz was addressing a laptops distribution ceremony at the Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan.
The PML-N President said that all those calling for change were bluffing to Pakistan’s youth, who and wanted to change “not our system but our values, norms and traditions.”
“We will not let them distort our values and traditions because the youth of Pakistan are standing with us,” Nawaz said.
Nawaz further asked the youth to stick with the traditions and values of Pakistani culture, which, Nawaz said, was our real identity.
He also claimed that those calling for change were manipulating young minds through politics just to gain power.
“PML-N had called for change long ago in the 90’s and we were punished for this because our idea of change means accountability of corrupt politicians,” he said.
Nawaz pointed out that Pakistan’s youth is frustrated and leaders exploiting them in the name of change, will lead to dreadful consequences.
However, he added that the PML-N will guide them to the right path and will ensure a bright future for them.
From slates to laptops
According to Nawaz, the PML-N has awarded laptops worth Rs12 billion to 500,000 students.
At the distribution ceremony in Multan, a unit of Punjab police marched past the students who were given laptops and presented a guard of honour.
Calling it a change in code of respect, Nawaz said if dictators and corrupt politicians can be presented the guard of honour, the students deserved it more.
“Merit is our top priority; we have distributed laptops without any discrimination,” he added.

uff i justdnt understand them!! instead of giving them laptops couldnt you open more colleges/ school/ university? the money should have been spent on long term solutions rather than a cheap poplarity gimmk, what will the laptop do for the kid? more facebook, more porn ? and the merit is so low cutoff, had he awarded it to the ninettes and the late eigfhties then also maybe understandable. however wasting 12 million on laptops is just urgh!!
all fluff................... just to copy Imran khan
PMLN has been in power for the last 25 years.Nawaz sharif enjoyed power even in the worst dictatorship of general zia. What change he has brought to the country in all those years? Only his family business has changed tremendously.look at the performance of Punjab government. Everyday innocent people are dying but chief minister is not bothered to answer questions in the provincial assembly. This arrogance and bad performance has been challenged by imran khan and people are looking to him for a change.
The money for these lap tops came from where? The education budget.
I have seen the state of many of the government schools in Multan. The roofs are often on the verge of collapse, children literally risk their lives to study under them. You may find up to 5 different classes being taught in one room, often by the same teacher.
Yet the PML-N think it's more important to spend the money on laptops for teenagers? Just what do they plan on doing with these laptops? In the UK local education authorities don't even distribute laptops like this. Why? Not because they can't afford it but because they are of very limited use. The money is better spent on textbooks, teachers and buildings!!!
