“The pages were put back up at around 5am on Monday after hectic efforts by party members in the US and Pakistan,” President of the Insaf Students Federation in Karachi, Arsalan Ghumman, told The Express Tribune.
Approximately 30 pages were hacked, including the official page of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, ISF’s own page and that of PTI Secretary General Dr Arif Alvi.
“We immediately contacted the National Response Cell on Cyber Crime, a department of the Federal Investigation Agency, as well as the management of Facebook in the US,” Ghumman said.
Since it was a weekend in the US, it delayed the process and made it that much more complicated. “But it worked to our advantage that the PTI is an officially recognised political party in the US,” he said.
Although PTI has a fair idea of who hacked the pages, Ghumman said, they are not willing to disclose the hacker’s identity right now. “I just want to clarify that this is not an inside job, as some people have been saying on social networking websites. The hacker is not and was not a member of the PTI,” he said, adding that the party is considering holding a press conference to disclose who hacked the pages.
Meanwhile, ProPakistani, a blog reporting on Pakistan’s telecom and information technology industry, reported that a 21-year-old boy who claims to have hacked the PTI pages had uploaded his picture on one of the hacked pages.
According to a message he posted on the page before it was taken down, the hacker called himself “UN DT” and showed that he’s in Karachi. Screenshots, exclusively shared with ProPakistani, show the hacker’s message that he hacked the pages because the PTI administration doesn’t allow fans to post questions on pages’ walls, restricting fans from asking anything from the PTI.
He disassociated himself from any political party and demanded that the Facebook pages’ administrators be terminated.

PTI needs to have more higher security on their fb pages.
Ha Ha Ha! ------ This wasn't un-anticipated! Of course, everyone and his dog knows that all these Bozos have a very low tolerance for anything less than total and un-diluted hagiography for their demigod. What are these thinking followers of this party and the man running it? Or a bunch of sychophants, masters of obsequisness or pre-programmed robots? Surprised to see this coming from those who are worthless even for their 'Bossman' who prefers the junk over them and goes around collecting such deadwood as Swatis and Kasuris and Quraishis and Tareens and and and the heap piles up and they are made to watch QUIETLY their party becoming a junkyard.
Shah Mehmood should be appointed as administrator of facebook pages
@ yasir mehmood, cz these pages were like by what counts to near a million Pakistanis
makes no difference to my country why this is even news?
Poor Uza Syed has had enough bashing.....:) one just hopes that people learn a lesson and think for a moment or two before they comment......please leave the poor boy alone :)
@Uza Syed:
"so why don’t they do politics over there and let’s do our politics ourselves" Answer: BECAUSE PEOPLE WANT THEM TO ...
Tell this to your leaders who have huge chunks of money in foreign banks and are doing their politics here... PTI registered in US does not mean they are US puppets, It only means that PTI is also popular among the foreigner Pakistanis besides the local residents.... I think you are a supporter of the status quo who are looting the money of innocent Pakistanis and will take the first flight to foreign land after they do their tenure...
@Uza Syed: We are registered in US because we do not want to raise funds illegally like others. PTI USA LLC is the actual name of us there. Our accounts can be reviewed there which NO other party would like to do. Thanks
@ Uza ... What do you mean by "ourselves"? It would be disaster if we leave our Pakistan to people like "yourselves".
They need to have a higher level of security so that this does not happen again !!!
@uza
Even PMLN, PPP and MQM are registered parties outside Pakistan, do business outside Pakistan and pay tax in USA, UK, Germany, France, Spain etc.....
@ uza.. its people like you who are the biggest hindrance in way of the abolition of a curse called status quo.
good, but they should increase security of their facebook account, as hacker may again hack their fb page.
Uza Syed,
They do politics here because of the following reasons:
I want them to. Their leader's wealth/source of income is within Pakistan. They are atleast doing their bit to present an alternate to the status quo which you seem to support.Why they are registered in USA?
a. Because they want to involve overseas Pakistanis in Pakistani politics. b. They have huge support in USA and people like to donate. In order to accept donations, they have to be registered in US.
so the drama un-folded. the finally 'recover' their pages.
