Sewage Disposal: Rs900m equipment for Faisalabad

WASA managing director Syed Zahid Aziz told the media that a JICA delegation will visit the city in February.

FAISALABAD: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is considering providing machinery worth Rs900 million to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for the improvement of sewage system in Faisalabad, a statement issued on Saturday said. WASA managing director Syed Zahid Aziz told the media that a JICA delegation will visit the city in February to finalise all arrangements and to make the announcement. He said under the project, heavy-duty power generators and water pumps would be provided for installment at all WASA disposal stations. He said with this machinery in place the agency would be able to improve sewage disposal system in the city. He said two water pumps of 25 cusec each and a 50-KVA power general will be installed at Chakera Disposal Station; four pumps of 25 cusec each and a 300-KVA power generator at Sitiana Disposal Station; a pump of 25 cusec and a 150-KVA power generator at Ahmad Nagar Pumping Station No36 and a water pump of 25 cusec and a 150-KVA power generator at pumping station 30 Bawa Chak. He said the JICA will also provide machinery for de-silting of sewers.
