QUETTA: The residence of a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) deputy director was attacked with an improvised explosive device on Mano Jan Road in Quetta on Friday morning.

There were no casualties or injuries in the attack. Unidentified persons planted the IED outside the residence of FIA Deputy Director Akbar Baloch and detonated it early in the morning. Doors and windows were damaged in the explosion.

“No one was present in the house as the explosion took place at 7:30 am,” Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Nazir Kurd told The Express Tribune.

A heavy contingent of police and Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. Kurd said that police have launched an investigation into the incident but no group has so far claimed responsibility.
