Speaking at a press briefing, Nuland said the attack on Salala check post has raised tensions between the countries.
The US Department of State issued a Travel Warning to Pakistan which highlighted incidents that that have happened in Pakistan or with American citizens in the last six months.
According to the Travel Warning released by the US Department of State, the attacks included one on May 20, 2011, when a US Consulate General vehicle in Peshawar was attacked, killing one person and injuring a dozen, including two US employees of the mission.
Another attack on April 5, 2010 on the US Consulate General in Peshawar killed several security and military personnel. And on February 3, 2010, 10 persons, including three US military personnel, were killed and 70 injured in a suicide bombing at a new girls’ school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The warning also alerted the US citizens who are currently in Pakistan and advised them to avoid going to demonstrations and protests “condemning drone strikes and Pakistan’s ongoing energy crisis”.
Nuland also commented on Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman’s statement regarding Pakistan being the ''first casualty" after withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, saying that it underscores the fact that the region is interconnected and that everyone should work together in order to drive out terrorism from the region.
Nuland said that Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Nato-Isaf family were required to make concerted efforts and go after terrorists wherever they are.

@chaudhry: I thought that the U.S. / NATO combo had already blown up everything in S.E Asia. However, those Westerner, particularly Americans, appear to get a kick out of bombing Muslim countries into the stone age. Now the infrastructure is badly damaged they are just content with bombing innocent men, women and children with drones.
@Faddy: "And It will be a LOSS for US or UK to send all of them back. US and UK universities have earned and are earning millions of dollars and pounds from the Pakistani students. Some of the best minds are living there, and if they come back it will be in favor of Pakistan no US or UK "
I think you are forgetting a basic fact: 1) There might be a few hundred Americans/Europeans in Pakistan but there are millions of people from Pakistani origin in US/Europe 2) The Americans in Pakistan are not expecting to permanently live in Pakistan but the Pakistanis in those countries (most of them anyway) are hoping to live there permanently and rais their families there if at all possible 3) Many people of Pakistani origin are born and raised in US/Europe and would have no interest in returning to Pakistan. 4) Pakistan gets $12 billion of remittances every year from Pakistanis living abroad. This is vital to fill the gap between exports and imports.
It is difficult to say who are the terrorists nowadays. Are they the men with beards firing AK47s, who one can see, or those wearing uniforms, who you do not see, guiding drone aircraft from afar, which bomb innocent villagers without warning..
@rk:
Actually if check your history you will find that the US has in fact used drones against its own citizens...........
A Swiss couple was kidnapped by the Pakistani Taliban last July while travelling in Baluchistan and the two are still kept in captivity. It looks as if foreigners are not safe there. It's a real pity, there are SO MANY beautiful spots in Pakistan and tourists would love to come for a visit.
@Faddy: lol u over-exaggerate things here.
yes ...thats cos US dont want their citizens to get hurt when drones hit paki soil.....
@vee Why there will be a problem?, havent they lived in Pakistan before? And It will be a LOSS for US or UK to send all of them back. US and UK universities have earned and are earning millions of dollars and pounds from the Pakistani students. Some of the best minds are living there, and if they come back it will be in favor of Pakistan no US or UK !
If PAK is not safe for its own citizens why would anyone think it would be safe for others? This is a bit like telling your child not to put their hand in the fire because they will get burnt.
Darwin principle - if an American is stupid enough to think Pakistan is "safe" then it's unlikely they are gong to live long enough to contribute to the gene pool.
& kindly send all Pakistanis working there in USA BACK to Pakistan .
I have serious concerns about Pakistani Nationals traveling to US for next two months.
Any one already there so try to refrain to go at the crowded places and meeting with people having dubious characters.
@Spaniard: Careful.. If they & UK send back pakistanis, it will be bigger problem..
If NATO leaves Afghanistan, whole of South Asia will blow up.
she is right.
so Uncle Sam's another terrorism activity is in the pipeline.. Allah reham kre!!
The lady forgot to mention the incident where the US embassy guy went on killing people on the streets of Lahore.
US citizen's or spy's
mam those who are already living here must be called back now....
This frustration of us administration shows her shame in the afghan war. instead of creating confusion to the US citizens in Pakistan she should focus to stabilize the economy of US. Pakistan administration is enough efficient to provide the security to the foreigners if she stops to send people like Raymond Davis...
