Under the regulations, owners of all private property, homes, factories, mills and tyre warehouses will be responsible for addressing causes for the growth of the dengue mosquito.
A spokesman for the Health Department has stressed on the citizens to ensure that water does not accumulate at their homes and also that broken equipment for storage and disposal of water be repaired.
The spokesman further said that under the rules and regulations, health inspectors can undertake checking of different premises and that the owners will bear the cost of ‘elimination’ if breeding spots of dengue mosquitoes are found.
He said that educational institutions will play an active role in the promotion of public awareness against dengue and students will also participate in apprising people of preventive measures.
The spokesman made it clear that under the regulations, it is binding on all institutions to cooperate with the all concerned departments for the eradication of dengue.
