KARACHI: The ensuing crisis of regularising 7,200 contract teachers came to a climactic end when a signed notification, regularising 5,700, was issued from the office of the Governor Sindh on Tuesday evening, Express News reported.

Earlier in the evening police had fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesting teachers at the Karachi Press Club and stop them from marching towards the Chief Minister house. The teachers had retaliated by hurling stones at the police.

The cases of remaining 1,500 teachers would be scrutinised, with a decision being announced in the coming days.

Approximately 7,200 teachers were recruited for three years on contract that expired on Tuesday.

A bill was submitted to the Sindh Assembly by the education department for the teachers’ regularisation but the session was prorogued for an indefinite period last week.

ahmad ali's comment is in fact dismal and Adnan's request for arrears to the governer is a grim reality to which i am a witness and a victim as well. the executive district officer education shaheed benazirabad, pursuing the orders of secretary education had allowed bps 09 to the primary school teachers of both iba and sindh university througout district in june last yeari. but they are yet to recieve their due arrear of salary after a long and illegitimate delay. governer, minister and secretary education are requested to play an effecive role in getting teachers' problem resolved

@ahmadali. mr ahmad's comment is baseless and untrue completely. the primary school teachers were appointed through a highly regimented and rigorous process under the management of a reputed and neutral entity. there is no room to doubt the competence and efficiency of teachers appointed through iba and sindh university. the teachers appointed through test conducted by university of sindh must also be regularised as soon as their contract term expires.
