Team should not be over-confident, advises the former captain.

ISLAMABAD: Flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi said that the national team can clean sweep the test series against England with its outstanding performance.

Talking to a private news channel, Afridi said on Monday that Pakistan should take the third test match against England as a new challenge and should not be over-confident.

Speaking about the second test, Afridi lauded the team's effort for toppling England well within the target of 145.

The former captain further said that Pakistan's batsmen will have to play long innings with extra responsibility in the up-coming match.

Replying to a question, he said that the young team players including Asad Shafique and Azhar Ali have performed very well, saying that it is their chance to make a place in the national team.

Afridi pointed out that spinner Abdul Rehman had availed the chance and played a vital role, taking Pakistan towards the series win. He added that the combination of Saeed Ajmal and Abdul Rehman was very good as they both know the conditions and pitch of the UAE very well.

Correction: In an earlier version of this article, Shahid Afridi was erroneously misquoted as saying "toppling England team at 145 runs was a great achievement". The correction has been made.
