Polio: One case confirmed in Khanewal

Muhammad Rafiq, laborer, earns living by working on daily wages, appeals for urgent help form government.

A polio case has been confirmed in the sub district Jahanian of district Khanewal. A four-year-old Muhamad Waqas, son of laborer Muhammad Rafiq, is found infected with the polio virus.


According to the Muhammad Rafiq first he had took his child to a basic health unit where after a week-long medication, the physician referred him to another senior doctor.

Finally he was sent to Children Complex [Hospital] Multan where we had remained under examination for two weeks with frequent visits. There, the doctor sent his samples to National Polio Health Centre in Islamabad for the verification which finally confirmed that the boy is suffering from polio.

Muhammad Rafiq is a poor laborer earning the living by working on daily wages. He has appealed for urgent help form the government. No health officials have contacted so far the victim and his family.
