Karachi Energy, Quetta Zorawer in final

KARACHI: Karachi Energy and Quetta Zorawer will be facing off in the 2010 Super Football League final today at the People’s Stadium, Lyari. Karachi overcame defending champions Islamabad United 4-2 in the semi-final on Wednesday, while Quetta Zorawer defeated Lahore Lajpals 2-1 on Tuesday.

Karachi Energy and Islamabad United failed to score any goal during the first 90 minutes of their semi-final, but Karachi’s Mohammad Essa netted a goal in the first minute of injury time which was equalised by Islamabad’s Mohammad Rana two minutes later, leading to penalty shootouts. Essa, Abdul Aziz, Aurangzeb senior and Saddam Hussain scored for Karachi, while Mohammad Umer scored the penalty for Islamabad.

Lahore’s Mohammad Adil scored the first goal in the third minute in their clash against Quetta.

But Lajpals were not able to maintain their lead over Quetta when striker Kaleemullah equalised the score in the 26th minute, and then moved on to give his team another goal in the 33rd minute to seal the victory.
