Dr Jaffar Mohsin, 58, was sitting outside his house in Gulberg Block 12 when two men on a motorbike opened fire on him and fled.
Dr Mohsin was taken to Ziauddin Hospital immediately after the incident and was declared dead by the doctors. The body was later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
Station House Office (SHO) Raja Tariq said that there was a possibility the incident was linked to the recent wave of sectarian killings in the city, but the police was investigating it from “different angles”. He said the family was not cooperating with the police right now as they were busy with funeral arrangements, but added that an FIR will be registered when they have given a statement.
Karachi has been hit by a wave of target killings during this week, which started when the Ahle Sunnat wal Jammat’s legal adviser and a party activist were shot dead in the Old City area. This was followed by the killing of three Shia lawyers in the Pakistan Chowk area.

So sad to see this happen. What is important is that Shia's and Sunni's must stand hand in hand against these attempts to get us to fight with each other. We must denounce wahabism funded by the Saudis. The concept of Extremism is against Islam (miana-rawi). The Saudi's are best buddies of US and Israel, and I am surprised no one questions this fact. Wake up people.
A man killed by another man apart from saying victim was shia or sunni, we should ask why, who and where were we at the time when this happened and what lesson or effect we took from this tragic event. He was a Muslim and died a Muslim Allah blessed him with SHADAT. Those fools who thought by killing Dr Mohsin, they can make him a non muslim or Kafir, i must say, have been proven wrong by ALLAH, Himself.
I have a lot more to say but this form is too small for it. Just to make it clear for everyone who reads my comment my name is Syed Wasif Raza a proud Muslim and Shia-e-Ahlul Bayt (Ahle Bait)a.s.
Pakistan is in a crisis. It is becoming harder and harder these days to find minorities to target as most have already been converted or eliminated. The only prominent minority now in Pakistan is Shias. They were once part of the majority Muslim Religion but now a minority.
Main Sadkay Kurbaan Mera Sohna Pakistan !!!!!
After everyone has been converted or eliminated to one sect of a religion, the prevailing sect / religion shall start finding differences amongst its own and start targeting each other as continued indulgence in conversion or elimination of others would have poisoned their minds with hatred for others and they would have become very intolerant. Something to think about when you feel that you are duty bound to convert others to your religion and feel happy about it. These only create hatred and does not serve the God you obey and follow.
