In cold blood: Policeman guns down truck driver

PESHAWAR: A truck driver was gunned down by the police on Friday for refusing to stop his vehicle for checking at Ring Road in Pishtakhara area of Peshawar. According to SSP (operations) Tahir Ayub, Constable Nazir of the Special Police Force asked Tawab Gul, the truck driver, to stop his vehicle, but he sped ahead. “He was chased and forced to stop his vehicle. However, after an exchange of harsh words, Nazir opened fire and killed Gul on the spot,” Ayub said.  The constable has been arrested and will be facing department and legal procedures, the SSP added. Meanwhile, other drivers said Gul was killed for refusing to bribe the police. To protest Gul’s ruthless killing, the drivers blocked the Ring Road and chanted slogans against the police, demanding the chief justice to take notice of the incident.
