Clarification: FAP has rights to handle bagged grains

KARACHI: Fauji Akbar Portia (FAP), a private automatic terminal at Port Qasim, has clarified a news item published in The Express Tribune on January 26. According to the FAP’s spokesman, they have an exclusive agreement with the Port Qasim Authority to handle all kinds of dry cargo, which includes all kind of grains and fertiliser in bulk or bagged form (dry form only) except for containerised cargo. This includes cereals, rice, seeds (including oil seeds) and pulses, hence, the allegation of violating the agreement and illegally berthing a rice-loaded ship at the FAP terminal is baseless.
