Upcoming 2012 Olympics: Diplomats, journalists compete on the field

Football match to celebrate six months to London 2012 Olympic Games.

High-profile Pakistani athletes attended a football match at the British High Commission in Islamabad on Thursday to celebrate six months to London 2012 Olympic Games.


A team of Pakistani sports journalists played a combined team of British, Brazilian and Chinese diplomats in the match, said a press release issued by the British High Commission. British High Commissioner Adam Thomson presented a shield to the Pakistani team for winning the match.

Athletes at the match included Mudassar Baig, gold medallist of 400 metre race in Asian Para Games 2010 at China, and Haider Ali, gold medallist of long jump in Asian Para Games 2010 at China. Brazillian ambassador Alfredo Leoni, Chinese embassy representatives and Pakistani Olympic Association President Lt Gen. (retd) Syed Arif Hasan also attended the match.
