FAISALABAD: The All Punjab Contract Employees Association (APCEA) on Thursday staged a protest rally to press for regularisation of their services. Government employees between basic payscale-1 to basic payscale-16 participated in the rally which started from the office of the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA). The participants passed through various city roads and ended the rally at the District Council Chowk where they staged a sit-in. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the provincial government accusing it of intentionally delaying the regularisation of their services. They said lists had already been prepared but some senior officials were not keen on regularising their services because they “want to induct their cronies on these posts in return of hefty kickbacks”. They said protests would continue until the government directed the officials concerned to proceed with the regularisation of their services.  They said a pen-down strike would be initiated in the province in case the government failed to redress their grievance.
