Drug testing: City to have international standard lab by June

LAHORE:

The first international standard drug testing laboratory will be functional in Sundar Industrial Estate by June 2012.

This was announced by SM Tanveer, the Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company chairman.

He said 70 per cent work on the building was complete.

He said Rs100 million were being spent to setup the laboratory, of which half had been provided by the Punjab government.

SM Tanveer said the equipment for the remaining construction of the building would reach Lahore in April 2012.

“With the setting up of this laboratory, pharmaceutical manufacturers will not have to dispatch drug samples abroad, as tests will be carried out in lesser time and cost,” he said.
