Militant attack on Sui check post kills 5 soldiers

Unidentified men opened fire at the check post, killing five soldiers.

Militants attacked a paramilitary check post in the Sui area of Dera Bugti in Balochistan and killed five soldiers, security officials said, on Thursday.

A heavy contingent of security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area, while the deceased personnel were taken to a hospital for autopsy.

The dead security personnel were identified as Naek Sher Ali, Sepoy Abdul Raoof, Mohammad Abid, Ghulam Hyder while Achar Khan was reported missing. The victims belonged to Dera Ghazi Khan, Tank and Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunknwa.

The banned outfit, Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Talking to the press from an unspecified location, BRA spokesman Sarbaz Baloch claimed that they had destroyed the check post in Kachhi Canal area of Sui and at least 10 security personnel were killed in the attack.


“The attackers also took away their weapons and a security personnel,” he said.

The bodies have been shifted to their native towns for burial.

According to the police earlier, unidentified men had opened fire at the check post and no group had claimed responsibility for the attack.

Law enforcement agencies were investigating the incident.

Earlier, a man was killed and another suffered injuries in a landmine explosion in Maro near Dera Bugti.
