The assailants managed to escape from the scene after committing the crime. A heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area.
The bodies were taken to the provincial Sandeman Hospital for autopsy, where they were identified as FIA inspector Vilayat Hussain, television artist Abid Nazish and an employee of the Balochistan accountant general’s office, Mohammad Anwar.
“The victims received bullet wounds on their upper torso that caused their immediate death,” hospital sources said. The motive behind the murders could not ascertained immediately.

pakistani shias must get their things straight!!!!
@truthh:
Why do folks with names such as 'truth', 'truth-teller', etc have the most bogus and deluded lie in their comments? Shame that you even got votes for your anti-minority resentment and prejudice.
@Strange: Indeed, strange. However, Shias have been dying and targeted en masse since the 80's. That would be 30+ years. Only recently have few acknowledged this fact in the last 10 years probably because some of the pain has made some realize that these are the same ideological extremists that are coming home to roost that were warned about in the previous decades but ignored.
The Shia-Sunni fasad exists because of extremists and ingrained societal bigotry, not because we truthfully talk about it, putting aside our intolerance, discomfort and taboo. Not wanting to highlight the issue and address it only enables them further.
@Zaki Khalid:
The sectarian strife and tone is already set by bigots and extremists, including those in denial.
Enemies are apparently doing a gr8 job in spreading fear, and who can blame the minority for this sense of insecurity? Part of it is because they have sympathizers among the Pakistani majority population including the upper echelons of our society, such as the Punjab govt and our military.
Hard not to be emotional when there's a successful anti-minority sectarian cleansing agenda that's being employed as we're sabotaged by our very own citizens and state, as no one is really held to account in our judicial courts or seriously cracked down by our government.
Unfortunate and regrettable !!!
We must mend their thought process and start treading the path of truth. Otherwise we will perish in the inferno that we have lit up for us.
In Balochistan anybody who isn't a Balochi or a pakhtun is being targeted. You cannot safely fly the Pakistani flag in Balochistan anymore. It may be true that these people happened to be Shia...but emotional people shouldn't blow this Shia-Sunni thing up again.....everybody in Pakistan is unsafe and we need to focus on fixing the government along with the law and order situation rather than further get into divisions.
@ Nida, my sister, please pay condolences for me and my family to the families of three deceased. There is no doubt that this attack was on Shia brothers and sisters. I believe those who use the web and have a little know how of the computers can never be terrorist but can be extremists. I request here to all not to indulge in the Shia and Suni conflict but try to motivate your uneducated relatives and friends to let others live with their believes. Also we should all try to make life of other people around us interesting and financial strong for them, so that they enjoy it instead or getting satisfaction in killing others. Those killed were innocents and are "Sheeds" I am sure Allah will bless them and they will be at the higher grades of "Jannah".
ET correction please. The name of the victim isn't Abid Nazish. His name's Abid Ali (Ashna).
Now . Why the preachers of peace are silent ?? Where are you ?
Hazara people are getting killed like animals but pakistani government and media doesn´t care about it, i am a Hazara man, and my father and and there fathers were born in pakistan when at that time pakistan was not even on the map. we did everything for this country but what we got? from this day i was in pakistan armed forces but i will hate pakistan.
Three of them killed today in this incident were Hazara Shias, 1. Walayat Hussain (Inspector FIA) 2. Abid Ali Nazish(PTV actor) 3. M.Anwar(poet) investigate now if any one has any doubt.
@truthh: These men were from my tribe Hazara. My sect Shiite. They live near my house. I know their daughters and wives. My family is at their home now. AND YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO LIE AND SAY THEY ARE SUNNI.
The three victims were all from the Shia Hazara community.

There is no place in Pakistan where the innocent people are not killed in target killing.
The government has failed to implement its writ.
It is time to change the government.
Long Live Pakistan Hum sub aik hain yeh humain laranay ki sazish hay jo kabhi poori nahi Hoogi INSHALLAH
strange things have started happening again!!! there was a lull to all killings and its seems like terrorists got their fundings again to buy ammo and hire hit men.
@truthh
check your facts. other news agencies are reporting it correctly as shia killing... (and no, Sunni blood is not cheaper, you are mistaken on that also)
This is the second burtal incident of its kind just today. Ealier, three Shia lawyers were targetted in the same pattern in Karachi and now three more innocents are killed in Quetta. What sort of Governance is this? Why law eforcing agencies are hesitent to take out these elements with iron hands? When the justice would prevail in the land of pure?
Sunni's have been dying in tons in the past 10 years... targeted or en masse. I am a Shia and I am sorry for them as much as every other Shia is, but please do not make it an other Sia-Sunni fasad here.
The question to ask is: How many more massacres are we going to see of the Real Muslims by the Self-satisfied Muslims before we wake up and decide to purge the monster of sectarianism from within us.
they all were shia! tht was their crime. nxt time inveestigate..before writing!!!
How sad it is that even with practicing democracy we stutter to name the culprits, even the news headlines are fake, there has been an ongoing assault on the Shia community in the land of pure. Hope this thread discontinues at the earliest.
All three were Shia and you people are saying "The motive behind the murders could not be known immediately.", strange?
