ISLAMABAD:

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is persuading the PML-N, to join in on the opposition’s demand to hold the next general elections by the end of this year.

The JUI-F chief claimed on Tuesday that the opposition has prepared a plan for holding elections by the end of 2012. Insiders told The Express Tribune that Fazl is trying to convince the main opposition to agree with his proposal.

“Holding early elections is the only solution to rid the country of crisis but our negotiations with opposition parties are at preliminary stages,” newly appointed Secretary General of the PML-N Iqbal Zafar Jhagra told The Express Tribune.

According to sources, the JUI-F chief’s move came after secret talks between the government and the PML-N over the schedule for the elections reached a stalemate.

He is in the government, along with MQM, ANP, PML Q.

Why are they calling for elections now. Imran Khan has been calling for elections since 2010. The situation in the country is so much worse now.
