Presidency: India takes over SAARC Chamber

A 70-member Pakistan delegation was also present.

LAHORE: The presidency of the Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry, after remaining with Bangladesh for the stipulated period of two years, has moved to India for the term 2012-13. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, member of national executive committee of the Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), took over the presidency from Bangladesh’s Annisul Huq on Monday, says a press release. In this regard, a ceremony was held in conjunction with the Saarc Business Summit in New Delhi. A 70-member Pakistan delegation was also present. Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected president showed a firm commitment to continue the work of his predecessor and foster economic cooperation in the region.
