At a press briefing, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the Pakistani army had officially delivered during the weekend a copy of the report conducted by Islamabad on the November 26 strikes against a Pakistani border post.
"The statement that this was an unprovoked attack by US forces is simply false," said Navy Captain Kirby. "It was not an unprovoked attack," he said. "There were errors made by both sides here."
Underscoring its criticism of the Nato force in Afghanistan, the Pakistani military rejected Monday US efforts to apportion some of the blame to Pakistan as "unwarranted and unacceptable."
Kirby said the Pentagon was "100 percent" behind the findings of the investigation report released last month by the US military.
That report, while acknowledging some responsibility in the bombing of one or two Pakistani border posts, argued that Nato troops had fired in "self-defense" after being shot at by "heavy weapons and mortar" from an "unidentified" source in a remote area infiltrated by Taliban organizations.
Captain Kirby regretted that Islamabad refused to participate in the investigation initiated by the US military. He called on Pakistan to reopen supply routes for Nato troops in Afghanistan, which were closed after the bombing.
"We want to get past all this and we want to build a good cooperative relationship with the Pakistani military," he said.
The crisis in US-Pakistani relations has been overshadowed by a stand-off between the courts and the civilian government that analysts believe could force early elections in Pakistan within months.

Well.. .US rejects all such reports which do not subscribe to its versios...nothing new.
Can't live with them. Can't live without them.
@numbersnumbers, both reports are public.
@numbersnumbers: It is all public. Wake up.
@Roflcopter: NOT, since much of both reports is not public!
@numbersnumbers, I've read both reports thoroughly and it's not hard to see who's actually telling the truth.
I believe that none of the people posting comments here has had the chance to read BOTH complete investigation reports! I also believe that none of those same people were at the scene of this incident, nor were they in the Joint Command Center during the time period! As a result, any "knowledge" of what happened is nowhere to be found here!
There were no mistakes on Pakistani side, US should stop fooling people and admit that not only were their mistakes but it was deliberate at some level. Pakistan refused to participate because they already knew what nonsense US would come up with in the report.
@BruteForce:
Finally US is begging to open the NATO Supply as their soldiers are dying due to hunger.
well done Pakistan army.....I pray that one day US will beg to Iran for its life,.
@Ahmer Ali: Please be patient with USA. It is politically incorrect for them to accept responsibility. There have been extremely rare instances when USA military acknowledged the crimes and acts of omission / commission of their overseas security personnel whether engaged in warfare or simply living in bases such as in Philippines. Please also make an allowance for the super sized ego of the sole superpower. Nothing will be gained by huffing and puffing. As Iqbal said something like: JURME ZAEEFI KI HAI SAZA MARGE MAFAJAD
NATO with pin point accuracy of Drones and Satellite assistance cannot make such a huge mistake. They were testing Pakistan and found that the nation and its army is still alive.
@BruteForce: I think there is something called protest. Look it up in the dictionary
@BruteForce: It shows that US has crossed all limits in testing the waters. Were we to bomb lightly equipped sleeping 24 American soldiers with Pakistani fighter air crafts and gunship copters along with heavy mortars in the middle of the night. Then opening up an 'investigation' and inviting US to join hands in finding the 'root cause'. Remember in military operations around the world, no aircraft or helicopter is granted permission to scramble without being fully aware of every planned objective/route/mission along with verified/validated coordinates.
@BruteForce: What truth are you talking about? The one where NATO forces came inside our borders and killed 24 soliders? All you want is for the NATO supplies to be opened but that's not gona happen!
Remember, it was Pakistan which refused to join the investigation. Shows who is hiding from the truth.
Did ever from the first day US' and NATO's officials accept the responsibility of Salala Check post's attack by saying so that this attack was intentional?'They have been saying from the first day that this attack was unintentional,mistakenly and in self-defense and sometimes they said that we attacked on Salala Check Post by chasing Taliban.NATO's and US' official always from the first day have been proving themselves innocent and right on their stance by pretending and giving hypocritical statements.So they shall never accept your reports.
It was expected, nothing new in it.
WELLDONE PAKISTAN ISPR TO PUT PAKISTANI PERSPECTIVE ITS REPORT.
We all know who is right now!!!!
