LAHORE: MPA Sanaullah Mastikhel has written a letter to Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif explaining his stance on the resolution he tabled in the Punjab Assembly.

He also told the PML-N chief about the circumstances under which the resolution was moved. In the letter Mastikhel stated that the resolution was prepared by 17 members from all parties because they were angry with a ‘particular section of the media which was maligning honourable members by broadcasting irresponsible reports’. He also said he tabled the resolution thinking that it was a joint decision. He also wrote that he should have brought the mater into the notice of senior party leaders notice but said that at the time several MPAs addressed the House and the sudden decision had harmed relations between the party and media.

Mastikhel said the resolution was not presented to antagonise the media and added that the moment the party chief had expressed his anger against the resolution the party members tabled another resolution in the House which the media approved of. He apologised to the party chief and hoped that the party leadership would give him a second chance or he would accept the decision of the party chief. “The party chief’s political philosophy stands above everything for me and other PML-N members and we cannot go against it,” he stated.

The PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has formed a committee to give recommendations on Mastikhel’s involvement in the party and senior provincial adviser Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa. Zaeen Qadri, Abdul Razaq Dhillon, Rana Muhammad Arshad are included in the committee. The committee will present its recommendations to the party chief within three days.
