2 security officials killed as police complete operation against kidnappers

Four criminals, associated to the dead kidnappers, were also apprehended during the operation.

PESHAWAR: Three proclaimed offenders and two security personnel of the Khasadar force were killed in an operation against kidnappers in Jamrud, Khyber Agency said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tahir Ayub on Monday.

The offenders had been involved in a series of kidnappings in Pakistan’s tribal belt and Peshawar. They were killed in a five-hour long operation in Ghundair area of Jamrud by the security forces, SSP Ayub, who was in charge of the operation told The Express Tribune.

Ayub added that two Khasadar officers, identified as Meerbat Khan and Yousuf Khan, were also killed in the shootout while two others were injured.

Sources said that the criminal group also used ammunition against the security forces.

The dead were identified as Baz Muhammad, Naik Muhmmad and Jan Muhammad and believed to be part of the Toray Group.

Four criminals, associated with the dead kidnappers, were also apprehended during the operation. They hailed from the Mullazai area on the outskirts of Peshawar city bordering the tribal belt.

The arrested criminals were identified as Akhtar Ali, Sherzamin, Almas Khan and the father of the kidnappers - Shad Muhammad.

Locals said that  six people including women were also injured in the shootout.
