“Until we repent for that grave mistake, we will never be able to overcome these issues,” he told a rally in Rawalpindi on Sunday, organised under the aegis of the Difa-i-Pakistan Council, which is an alliance of 40 religious and political parties.
The rally, which managed to pull as many as 20,000 people to the well-known Liaqat Bagh, was also attended by Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami chief Maulana Samiul Haq, former Inter-Services Intelligence chief Hamid Gul, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Munawar Hasan and Ahmed Ludhianvi, Pakistan Muslim League-Zia’s Ijazul Haq and former army chief General (retd) Mirza Aslam Baig.
Saeed, whose organisation is banned by the United Nations but continues to operate as a charity in Pakistan, said that closing Nato supply routes is not enough and Pakistan must re-evaluate its entire defence policy.
He said he had told Prime Minister Gilani that he will ask him a question in the Rawalpindi rally. The question, he said, is when will he announce the date that Pakistan will severe all its ties with the United States. “This is America’s war and we only want to fight Pakistan’s war.”
Saeed, whose JuD is believed to be linked to anti-India militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, said that India is a greater threat to Pakistan than even the US. “The current government is conspiring with the US to give in to Indian supremacy [in the region]. Granting the Most Favoured Nation status is part of that plan. We must practically oppose this.”
He said that the Difa-i-Pakistan Council is working to agglomerate all political and religious parties to fight these conspiracies and tackle the difficulties that Pakistan is embroiled in.

@Colonel: Your Site is Pro-Indian & Anti-Pakistan, obviously you have the same ideology. After reading hundreds of such links one can recognize it from a mile away. Muslim maybe mostly responsible for they own fame and defame. But Israel to attack Pakistani nuclear facility with Indian help and Gawadar to become NATO port, before Iran(friend of India) can be taken care of by NATO is only Indian Wish. That Russia will be in loss to dump India and make friend with Pakistan. These desires in your link is not found anywhere around the globe but in India. So buddy you need some camouflage to move undetected until you hit at the heart of Pakistan. It's people like you that make me think: Maybe Muslim Fundamentalist are the only Invincible force of Pakistan. Because educated readers can easily be manipulated by such activity by left behind and hateful anti Pakistan Muslims of India.
Jud is funded & trained by ISI, you'll see them praising military all the time & bashing the elected Governments.
So, the civillian death toll from US drone strikes are more acceptable to the likes of Hafiz Saeed? Ever notice that Saeed is suspiciously soft on Americans?
Dollars are dried up, their anger is justifiable. Nor can this poor country's smashed economy afford their expensive adventures. All we need is to seal the way, Ryal comes from!
@Hedgefunder: Who cares what the Afghanis do or don't want; They are used to fighting among themselves and blaming others; From day 1 Afghanistan has been used as a base for Indian terrorism against Pakistan. The Afghanis remain stooges of their Indian masters so the best Pakistan should do is seal the border and leave them to their own fate when the West leaves them. This time we should not allow these people access into our country to commit crimes.
These parties have no support in Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rasheed is also a step son of Pindi he is a Kashmiri.
And what about what we did to Bengali Muslims and are doing now to Balochi Muslims?
I had predicted correctly in my earlier comments to another such news on Difa-I-Pakistan that this rally will be a flop as the army is now guarded in its support of such terror organizations. If the 20,000 crowd is true, then my predictions were mostly correct.
I see that the day is nor far when these groups will be haunted down, chased and humiliated in the streets of Pakistan by the ordinary Pakistanis.
On the contrary, current situation is the result of using Afghan soil against the international community. Religious fanatics should not be allowed to dictate their agenda to the state and 180 million people.
@Adnan, how many people attended PTI rally in Karachi and Lahore ? What proportion was that quantity compared to the total population of those cities ? Does that mean that the rallies were unsuccessful ? Definitely not.
Completey agree with him, the nation stands behind people like Hafiz Saeed.
If these religious people can join Imran Khan then he can win election comfortably. Love you Pakistan, Love Difa-i-Pakistan council, Love Imran Khan.
How come imran khan is not attending Difa-I-Pakistan?
You haven't done a good job of fighting either - have you?
We were fools to think these men were heroes when they were blowing things up in Kashmir. These guys arent even Kashmiri, they're just mercenaries.
" The rally was organized by Difa-e-Pakistan Council, which is an alliance of 40 religious and political parties. The rally, managed to pull as many as 20,000 people"
It means majority of the citizens of Rawalpindi do not support their extremist agenda.
On the one hand these persons blame Musharraf for eating dollars and starting war which is not Pakistan's war. They also blame him to leave Taliban out in cold. On the other hand, they are makin Sh.Rasheed and Ejazulhaq their allies. Weren't these two members of Musharraf's cabinet, supporting Musharraf's policies? The fact is people like Hafiz Saeed and Hameed Gul are grindibg their own axes. They just want to be in the news. By the way what is Hafiz Saeed's source of income?
we r a hypocrite nation when these ppl fight in kashmir against indian forces they become heroes when it seems their stance is hardline then they become extremists we the public are at fault we make these ppl heroes and they we make them religious extremists. today ppl side with liberals after sometime they will call those liberals as liberal fascists
Have they no shame? The people on stage, barring Sheikh Rasheed, are responsible for creating and making excuses for the extremists and terrorists in our society.
@faraz: u know Muslims are responsible for their own bad image because http://707monty.blogspot.com/2011/10/who-is-responsible-for-bad-image-of.html
More than half of Afghans are non-pushtoon and they hate Taliban. Before 911, the Taliban were involved in a civil war with non-pushtoons and Shia, and Muslims were killing Muslims.
