“They say that PTI is a party popular only in urban Pakistan. But you tell me, has there ever been this big a rally in Bhalwal?” Imran confidently asked thousands of party supporters who gathered in the small town in Sargodha on Sunday, who responded with a cheer of ‘no’.
“Do the rural people not want justice? They do. Injustice in Pakistan’s rural areas is worse than that in urban areas,” he said. “This PTI tsunami will be even more successful in rural areas because it is the harbinger of change, of Pakistan’s transformation.”
Speaking about how his party prioritises rural farmers as those who need justice the most, he said that because of a mafia, a poor farmer who produces sugarcane is paid 30 per cent less than he deserves for his labour and production. “Why does Indian Punjab produce double than Pakistani Punjab? They have the same weather and land conditions. Because the Indian government supports them by providing them with seeds, fertiliser and free electricity.”
This, he said, is his party’s vision for the farmers of Punjab. “We can earn an additional 300 billion rupees. And PTI will make all this available for farmers. Our primary concern will be the weak.”
Two-party system
The greater part of Imran’s speech was focused on criticising the two parties that have hogged civilian rule in Pakistan – the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
“The reason these parties cannot bring about any change is because they are part of the problem, not the solution,” Imran said. “Their time is up and the days of their rule are gone.”
Picking on PML-N, who Imran has categorically refused to ally with, he said that Punjab is their responsibility where they are governing for the fifth time but they have failed so miserably that they couldn’t even administer proper examinations for students. “Is Punjab doing any better than the rest of the provinces? No, it isn’t. Look at your tenure from 25 years ago and compare it with the current situation. You have destroyed Punjab.”
He said that he saw right through PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif’s stance on the government’s refusal to write to Swiss authorities under the Supreme Court’s National Reconciliation Ordinance order. “Mian sb, tell me one thing: how did you suddenly realise that the amount in Swiss banks is looted from the people of Pakistan? Three years, you were ruling together [with the PPP]. You were brothers. Was this not looted money then?” he questioned.
Imran then drove his point home by quoting former US President Abraham Lincoln’s famous lines: “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time”.
Addressing the prime minister, Imran said that he criticises PTI for not having an agenda.
“First of all, Mr prime minister, I would like to tell you that even if we don’t have an agenda right now, it will be better than yours. Even if we fail to deliver on our promises, we will end up doing a better job than you,” he said.
These parties, he said, say that Pakistan’s problems cannot be solved. “But I say they can be easily resolved. We are a well-endowed country. There are so many bright and competent Pakistanis who must be appointed at the right places. They should head Wapda, PIA and Pakistan Railways. All appointments must be made on merit.” Justice, he said, is when merit is given priority over all else.

We have to change Pakistan. Vote to bring change! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q_gfjR45iw
At this point of time Pakistan needs a leader like Imran Khan more than ever.
I honestly hope and pray that he is elected...but he does not have enough sitting politicians...they are mostly ex-MP's/MNA's. If elections happen in the next month or two, he does not have enough firepower yet.....he needs another 6 months at least imo to get more coverage in Sindh & Balochistan.....Also if he is wise he should wait until the memogate case is done and dusted because and then he should pounce because PPP's credibility will be even more damaged.
@Ch Allah Daad: I predict no seat for PMLN.
PMLN strengthen PPP government and people are equally fed up from PMLN.
To all those people who are banking on Imran Khan, like my self, let me tell you that Imran Khan alone cant take the country from one corner to the other. I believe that the people need to change as well. We need to inbuild a feeling to always respect the law. No breaking signals and 4am, when no one is around. WE NEED TO MEND OUR SELVES TOO!
imran khan is genius
Hi All, We like Imran Khan, Specially in Scandinavian countries, people from Pakistani Origin prefer him over PPP, PML-N and Other Trolls. We hope the election commission will grant us the right to vote, if does i am 100% certain Population of Pakistani Origin living in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway will vote for him, it is a general opinion how low we feel because of puppet show of PPP in Presidency and Government plundering the court orders. I am certain, IK tactics are working atleast for us, who watch our nation being burned, bombed every day. I hope this guy can bring change. In my personnel opinion when i first met him in days of his life in Oxford, i observed he is genuine guy, he is harmless and does not let any body play with his integrity. It is forth important that integrity plays important role in making and breaking of nations. My brothers and Sisters in Pakistan, please ask your self, which leader in past after Liaqat ali khan (Shaheed) had integrity, Pakistan has produced some of finest and best leaders but it is us who have disowned them, one example is Late Mohammed Asad, Standing next to his tomb in Spain one can feel the dirty power game which is part of Paisktan's elite, in this dirty tug of war, Imran Khan can play hard and will keep discipline, one which our Nation's Father Qauid Mohd Ali Jinnah said, DISCIPLINE. My fellow country men, this country is the dearest, it is unique and their is none in world better than this, with all the social benefits and security from welfare state, we prefer Pakistan. BUT if the conditions improve, I request Election commission of Pakistan through this honorable forum, please allow Pakistanis Outside Pakistan to vote for change, we are your sons and daughters, we are one of you, we keeping this economy running by our remittances, dont make us feel orphan, rejected, we want this. IK we Pakistanis (living in Nordic countries) will vote for PTI if we get our voting right. Also thanks for taking this initiative. May Allah help you all the way to ultimate success. Amen.
Largest convention in the history of Bhalwal
I belong to Bhalwal city. In my life of 35 Years i have never seen such a huge crowd ever before. It is trust of people in Imran Khan..... Imran please do ur best....
@Colonel One more thing! I am not a young and emotional supporter of PTI.I am a 38 year old, PhD in Electrical Engineering and belongs to a rural middle class (not to a burger class!).I have been witnessing Pakistani Politics since 1988.
@Colonel How can you say that all the looters and corrupt have joined PTI? Can you name even a single corruption charge against Shah Mehmood, Javed Hashmi,Iftikhar Gilani,Jahangir Tareen, Khursheed Kasuri, Owais Laghari etc.Well, it might be true that some people of tainted reputation have joined PTI but mind you, no election ticket have been awarded yet. Do not worry about PTI organization in Sindh and Balochistan. It is already in Pashtun areas of Balochistan and urban areas of Sindh.By the time Quetta Jalsa will take place, PTI will have penetrated a lot in Balochistan and some notable Baloch would join PTI after 23rd March. So, be patient and prepare yourself to make the post here on 23rd March. And, please think of some new criticism about Imran Khan and PTI.One final request to you! please spare some thought about Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari and do something to stop the ever declining popularity of these two 'great leaders'.
I like the sentence which must have shattered the minds of extremist elements that " PTI will eradicate sectarianism from Pakistan" its really nice to hear this statement, which gives a moderate view of Imran Khan. so no support of extremism in Pakistan in future. Good development.
Imran Khan BEWARE, large gatherings at your events have nothing to do with PTI getting the necessary votes. All it shows is either people in the jalsas have no job, nothing else to do or just hearing him. You must appeal to the possible voters.
If Imran Khan is sincere about saving Pakistan from the corrupt and powerful then he should announce that he will NOT be the President or PM but only bring together the best most qualified new team with the best qualified Manager. He should remain as a mentor and advisor to the team. For 60 years the power of the KURSI has not forgiven anyone.
Imran Khan is the only ray of hope
Imran Khan Sahib we want to pure and new Pakistan.. We all new generation togather with you and InshaAllah you will succes in election and you will become a Prime Minister of Pakistan, but Plz Talk on the issues of our Sindh our Sindhi people. In Sindh the situation is very bad to bad so Plz talk for our problems...
@Mir: But PTI can implement no program to get rid of bonded labour because they now have Piri landloards in their party. PTI failed the moment it put forward Piri landloards to get votes (as opposed to idelology).
Following is the key and most important statement Imran Khan has made many times. We willhave to hold him to this "There are so many bright and competent Pakistanis who must be appointed at the right places. They should head Wapda, PIA and Pakistan Railways. All appointments must be made on merit.” Justice, he said, is when merit is given priority over all else."
@Syed Ali Husnain...: Full marks for idealism! But it is spelt 'status-quo', not 'status-co'.
imran khan will get votes in rural areas if he has programs for land reforms and bonded labor.
@Colonel -you were saying the same for PTI in Punjab &KP before 30th Oct jalsa that they are tanga party and don't have organization in Punjab and KP. Please don't worry about PTI on how they will get 2/3rd majority however, you should take care of your king Zardari & AalamPinah NawazSharif as their days are numbered in politics.
Imran i TRUST you and give you free hand to choose Best available team. But you have to come in power and serve the people of Pakistan... I'll judge u better after your 1st term as a PM. All the Best.
Poor farmers may crave justice but they will still vote for whomever the landowner tells them - eating and staying alive are more important than politics.
But then also tell the truth about the lawyers' movement. Nawaz Sharif's "tsunami" lead to the restoration of judiciary , all the while you were in hiding.
Imran Khan is right in saying that PTI will be more successful in rural Pakistan.
@Kashif Iqbal: No he won't. But do you really want to see him in your dreams? Plz wake up now!
For all PTI bashers Please don't cry, wait for the elections!!! I don't say he is an angel, but definitely far far better then all the other options we have!!!
For me Imran khan is the ray of hope. My vote is for PTI
Rural Punjab is in much pain due to worse condition of law and order. These parts are neglected for long. Hope some one like IK can bring some relief to us. I am also from rural part of country and for us life is really miserable without electricity and gas. I will vote for change.
FOR IK i shall say .more talk talk less do do
Imran, Kindly do some basic research on Indian Punjab. The land over there is poisoned to such an extent because of pesticides that it is going into the entire food chain, including milk. We do NOT want that to happen to Pakistani Punjab.
It is an ecological disaster over there. Perhaps related, innumerable farmers in Indian Punjab are committing suicide.
@kashif: THIS SORT OF ADULATION AND HERO WORSHIP IS POISON TO POLITICAL STABILITY IN PAKISTAN BECAUSE IT GENERATES EXTREME HATRED WHEN THE EXPECTATIONS ARE FAILED. PEOPLE HAVE TO VOTE AFTER DUE STABLE REASONING AND NOT IN HYSTERIA.
@Adeel: Good leadership gets elected if its roots are strong and clean
If leadership is good, nobody can do corruption. So I am dead sure that even if somebody has doubtful past but dont think that Imran will allow him to do corruption.
@Adil Q: but i see a lot of change in PTI, now looter's, thugs and corrupts are being entitled as savior's of NATION
Peoples Party has had three chances and PML(N) has had 2 chances in the last 20 years. I am sure situation will be much better with IK than it was with the above 2. Even with his few borrowed lotas!!.Do we have a better option than him.
i'm a fane of IK no doubt i am a medical student now in rahim yar khan i want to suggest IK that different people joining the pti day by day most of these people wants to remain in govt.they do not love pakistan these are in the govt.for many years but they do nothing IK plz at the time of giving ticket remain your eyes open before giving ticket you should know about the previous life n role in politics ov these people stay blessed love you khan.....
@Maryam: first you say he has tanga party, he can not do anything. then you say he can not bring people out, he brings hundred of thousands. then you say he has not electable candidates, people from all over the country are joining him. then you say even with these people, he can not win, we said we'll see. and now you say he might win but he can not bring the change. i see the change in you already :)
PTI has got no representation in Sindh and Baluchistan, nominating candidates is a different thing they don't even have organization or team in these two provinces, same is the case for Southern Punjab, and in other parts of Punjab they have to compete with powerful parties PMl Q, PML N, PPP and their powerful candidates(who can get thousands of vote on their own), but the supporters and leaders of PTI are claiming to win 2/3rd Majority, I feel pity on these young emotional PTI workers
geo imran hazaron saal. u r our next PM.
If that is the case, then I change my prediction from five seats to two seats.
I have lived all through 65 years of democracy in India and have seen scores of elections and election meeting. The truth is that crowds in election meeting are no indicator of popularity or victory. I have seen huge crowds gather for various reasons like curiosity, star appeal, novelty of ideas being propagated etc. Above all it is huge amount of money spent to gather crowds by providing free transport and money etc. We every day see how party spends millions of rupees through organised crowd gathering. People like Mrs Gandhi, BJP lost poorly in spite of huge crowds.
Some doubt the ideas, some doubt the voters sincereity, some the rhetoric. I ask if what you see & hear is not better then what you are getting at present??? If your wishes as anti-IK come true then you will have another 5 years of disappointment and desolation-where young childeren are raped, mother are commiting suicide and there is NO energy. I presume you will deserve the CURSE of the present wretched regime
I think Zardari doesn't impose tax on dreams? :D
Well! Creating an impression using pathos and rhetorical tool under the lime light is an easier part then actually doing what you are saying. Pakistan is in the state where we see no one except Imran Khan to trust upon , and Imran Khan please find yourself a better thing to do then red herring the former politicians. and talking about the last point about 'merit ' , who will decide the merit? Is it be you or some former corrupt bureau-crates . Pakistan is on a voyage with no map. Let's see where it lands.
PTI will be more successful in Rural Areas because now you have Elite Lootas in your party mostly from southern Punjab. Now yes you may win election in Pakistan but you cannot bring change with Lotas, I am 100% sure.
To see a huge crowd in Pakistan does not means that the very crowd will also vote for him.In the modern days ever the uneducated have enough sence to make a decession where to cast their votes. People know that all looters from different parties who have sucked the blood of Pakistan have now joined hand with this up coming leader who use to say and the name of his party also says Therik-e-Insaaf now all those who dont belive in INSAAF have joined to make more more money how will Imran stop them if he will try to stop them they will let him down as they have been doing in the past with the other leaders so Imran sahab should open his eyes and the 15 years of hard work should not go waste.
He is right, you cannot move into the Punjab country side after sunset, if you do, you'll lose your car, wallet, cell phone and may be your life. Things were never like that in Punjab. Such pathetic law and order. I think law and order in Rural Sindh is better then law and order in Rural Punjab. Even Karachi has better law and order situation than Rural Punjab. Its just the media which hides one thing and propagates the other!!!
I believe that a sincere leader can bring about a reversal in Pakistan's current downward trend. However, the politics of campaigning are far different from the politics of power. IK will need a strong team to implement his program of change. I hope, along with the political heavyweights that PTI is inducting as a necessary measure for electoral success, experienced professionals are joining his party in equal numbers. Closer to the elections, I would sincerely advise IK to have a press conference with his slew of advisors like educationists/economists/engineers/professors/research/entrepreneurs...his "think tank", so to speak.
The corruption and inefficiency of ruling PPP and PML-N are making IK job easier but the way is steel much steepy, be careful Imran!
Well bowled Imran! We hope and pray for your sunny success but remember to live up to your promises.
To start living up to your promises, how about traveling by car, train (whenever it rolls) or by a local airline, for ringing in the change. Let Tareen ground his aircraft for a change. Depreciation on the aircraft is pretty heavy with spare parts replacement taking an expensive toll.
Salams
@fahad mera bahiii,,,hosla keroo,....IK will bring change,,,,IA
muahh PTI!! Zindabad Imran Khan.
For those calling PTI a "Party of Burger-Class", the Bhalwal Jalsa should be an EYE-OPENER...
I am a fan of you Imran....but I sincerely doubt that.
