Extortion: ‘Don’ shot dead in police encounter

An alleged extortionist identified as Waseem Baloch alias Don was killed in an encounter with the police.

KARACHI: An alleged extortionist identified as Waseem Baloch alias Don was killed in an encounter with the police on Saturday in Shah Latif Town. They claim that he was associated with gangsters from Lyari. The encounter took place when the suspect and his accomplice were trying to escape after injuring a private contractor’s employee for not giving them one million rupees. The contractor was identified as Rana Ikhlaq and his employee was identified as Saleem Jokhio. The police said that they got to the scene of crime as soon as gunshots were heard. They engaged in a shoot-out with the suspects and managed to injure one of them while the other escaped. They seized a TT pistol and a motorcycle from Baloch.
