KARACHI:

Pakistan’s dismal show at the Asian Shooting Championship ended yesterday with the country failing to qualify for the London Olympics after finishing a disappointing 13th in the men’s trap team event.

Kuwait, India and Lebanon finished top in the competition.

Usman Sadiq, who ended Friday with a 47/50 score, needed to end in the top six to progress to the next round and guarantee an Olympics spot. He, however, gave an ordinary show in the second qualifying round with a 110/125 score.

“It’s been a bad show from our shooters,” National Rifle Association of Pakistan Secretary Javed Lodhi told The Express Tribune. “Sadiq had given us hope but he couldn’t continue with his form. ”

Earlier, Khurram Inam, Yousuf Malik and Abdul Sattar had also failed to perform in the team skeet event.

@Zaid Hamid: Who cares about India, Brazil, the Congo or any other nation.? We are here to support the Pakistani team alone! Someone gets to go and someone has to lose; That't life. Our team did its best and we are proud of them still.
