The commission probing into the Memogate scandal had asked me to make appropriate arrangements for Ijaz in its January 9 order, Haq told The Express Tribune.
Ijaz’s counsel, Akram Sheikh had earlier said that by excluding the army from the security, the government wanted to deprive his client of providing valuable evidence linking President Asif Ali Zardari to the memo.
“I have met with the Defence Secretary, Interior Secretary and the representatives of the federal security agencies to finalise the arrangements,” he said. Haq said that army personnel could be involved if required under the commission’s order.
The attorney general said Ijaz had been given foolproof security under Article 245 of the Constitution. He added the article stated that the army could be asked to help the administration “in aid of civil power”.

@Colonel:
He is an American and he will always say what all other Americans have been saying about ISI and Army and that should not bother us. We should be happy if the evidence provided by him helps the court in finding the real culprits involved in the treacherous Memo scandal.
an attention seeker like Mansoor Ijaz is being given exactly what he wants.
Gentlemen, Why are we arguing about Mansoor Ijaz and his past? What needs our attention is that he is bringing along evidence supporting a possible conspiracy against the state. Why is all this being obstructed. Let him submit the evidence before the SC Judicial Commission, who can then decide whether it true or not. If the fingers are pointing at some one, even if its the President, so be it. No efforts to prevent submission of evidence will help. Truth will eventually surface.
" Fool Proof Security" ! So what about all the Foreign Aid Workers, who get kidnaped and possibly killed, while they are trying save & better lives of the people in need or for that matter even local Journalists, Businessmen and ordinary people of Pakistan, who Suffer from so many incidents related to their Security too???? Are there any provisions in the Constitution for them???
I think even President or PM of our country do not get security cover of two battalions. I am really ashamed that what sort of people are there in my country
Perhaps no less than Kiyani will be required to act as a personal bodyguard of His Highness Mansoor Ijaz.
@Pervaiz Lodhie: he has already given what he had, only verification from blackberry company is left, he is a liar, he worked, wrote and propagated against ISI and the Army even few months back and he sould not be provided security from Army
Well now that army is bent on bringing him to testify against civilian Govt, which could in turn implicate President himself.I would like PM to assign Rawalpindi Corps Comander personally guard him with his whole corps. Thus is shameful.
Because Ijaz Mansoor is bringing very damaging possible proof against the highest civilian authority in Pakistan he can only get guaranteed security by the Army
One ordinary American is coming and the whole Pakistani machinery is standing on its toes.
Let me admit the fact that we are slaves and will always remain slaves of the US.
The politicians who make tall claims that they will Pakistan above the sky is nothing more than making the people fool.
We all live in fool's paradise and will ever remain there for ever unless we will learn not to bow before any foreign country or foreign national like Mansoor Ejaz.
this man has propagated a lot about ISI and Army at least he should not be escorted by Military vehicle's upon his arrival
I hope Veena Malik will also be provided the same security on her arrival to Pakistan.
If Zardari and Haqqani are not involved then why don't they facilitate Mansoor Ijaz's visit to Pakistan. Why are they creating hurdles and why are they not providing him security as directed by the judicial commission.
Ijaz has probably been bought to make pro-Zardari statement.
