KARACHI:

It was another day of sufferings for litigants on Wednesday as lawyers boycotted the proceedings at city’s courts protesting the death of a colleague.

Mustafa Sadiq, a member of the Karachi Bar Association, was injured in an armed attack in Hub city on January 12, and succumbed to injuries here Tuesday night.

The lawyers boycotted the proceedings at the City and Malir courts as well as the Sindh High Court and no case was heard. The prisoners under trial were sent back to jail as well without having their hearings.

Later, an emergency general body meeting was held at the KBA office where members condemned the killing of lawyers one after another. The KBA holds the government responsible for the attacks against lawyers. The hearing of cases at the high court was also suspended after a request made by the SHC Bar Association’s honorary secretary Shahab Sarki. The SHCBA also condemned the attack.
