Workers and legislators who want to be at the court to show their support cannot bring any banners and will not be permitted to chant slogans, PPP’s Parliamentary Leader in the Punjab Assembly Major retired Zulfiqar Gondal said on Wednesday.
He said the instructions had been issued on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
“Only prominent members of the party’s Punjab chapter will be allowed to participate in court hearings while workers will be asked to wait and observe,” Gondal said. “Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Prime Minister Gilani and cabinet members will be present.”
He said that January 19, when Gilani is due to appear before the court, will show the stark difference between the attitudes of the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz towards the Supreme Court. “The PML-N moved the court over the Memogate affair on the behest of the establishment.”
PPP Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shaukat Basra lashed out Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s statement against PPP leader Babar Awan. “He [Sanaullah] should not have used such language against Awan.”

Oh,so sorry to see the political situation in Pakistan. Standoff is still stand. Reality is that some forces are supporting judiciary on some points relating to law and constitution. But on the other hand, some powerful elements standing behind the government such as prime minister and the president. no doubt, president has constitutional immunity but there are chances of conviction to the head of the government.
Present situation is not favorable for the state and its institution further more future of the people of Pakistan.
Some time i feel as we as a nation going through a long dark tunnel and there is no light at the end of it.
A news has appeared on the media's sea surface,Ahtazaz Ahsen has been appointed as defense counsel of the prime minister,it is good omen. Defense counsel is a experienced lawyer and political leader,I hope he would saved the sinking boat of the nation and resulting in unity prevail between the institutions.
This isn't right. I don't believe the 'Jiyalas' will follow any code of conduct should the Supreme Court dismiss the PM. History (1977 lawyers-government conflict) will repeat itself, and once again Aitzaz Ahsan will be right in the middle of it.
