Speaking to the media in Multan at an honourary dinner organised by the PTI for journalists, Hashmi said that the nature of politics is changing in Pakistan and old political leaders have no understanding of it.
“People of Pakistan have declared PTI as the only chance of survival,” he added.
Government and NRO
Hashmi accused the government of calling parliament supreme on one hand and ignoring its decision against the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) on the other hand.
“Government had brought NRO to the parliament from the Supreme Court (SC) just to legalise their corruption,” he said.
The PTI leader reiterated that the government should obey SC orders and respect the supremacy of law.
Hashmi also alleged that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was using parliament to protect himself from the corruption charges but “he will fail because the entire nation was standing with the SC."
“Even resigning from his post would not get him out of this situation,” he added.
Hashmi said that the current standoff between institutions is a result of disobedience on the government’s part and refusal to uphold the constitution.
By-elections
Talking about the upcoming by-elections, the PTI leader said that his party would not contest because “fake voters’ list will be used in these elections.”
“We need transparent elections with a genuine voters list,” he said.

dear ones. the Pakistan is under the siege for the last two decades and every thing like the strong institutions are on earth now. what we need is some true honest people to set the parameters for the growth of the institution and it will certainly take time but if the people of Pakistan assured once that their future and country are in safe hand then certainly the intensity of the crises will be low, to achieve the goals we all should at least reject the political parties the slogan of whom deceive us and when they form the govt them they act like the kings of dark ages, sham for every Pakistani that the land cruiser of gilani in which he appears in the court got fake no. plate and we still believe that he will change the fate of the nation. President Asif Ali Zardari in previous year bought a house in England costing 20 arab rupees. and I did not see anywhere that he donate 100000 Rupees for the flood effecties or for idps. dear all the people of pakistan will have to take some evolutionary steps to bound the rulers to work for the betterment of the Pakistan and if one cant delever then we should sack all the looters by our vote.
@siddique malik: well about JH i can tell he has no accounts outside the country. i am giving strong statements not because my of emotions but because i know the facts. i am still amazed on ur confidence about JH spending huge amount. i will repeat kindly look for the facts and post them here. and i repeat his assets are declared. and he will declare them again before next elections. because that is the appropriate time. that is the time when all the nominees are supposed to declare the assets. and i dont undersatand wats with us. we will openly criticize a politician. i think we as an individuals are not doing any good either. neither are the other institutions. and at least do not criticize those who have done alot for the betterment without facts. instead encourage and help them in their cause.
@Hassan: PML-N
With all due respect to Mr. Hashmi, I would also like to point his attention towards the corrupt politicians who have come in the "folds" of PTI. Have they been white-washed by PTI, by dipping them in the Ganga-Jal?
If you didn't know;
Jahangeer Tarin - a tax evading corrupt corporate baron Azam Swati - a religious fanatic, billionaire, who made money through dubious means Khursheed Qusuri - the man who sells education to the elite, at high price, making money throughout the process Laghari - a landlord(jagirdar) Bosan - a landlord(jagirdar) .... ..... ....
To name a few!!
Who will tighten the noose around these corrupt manipulators of the poor?
Last day supreme court declare Sharif brother did not commit any corruption and ask nab to release asset of sharif brother.
-If any politicain of pakistan says Sharif brothers are corrupt then why they did not go to court and give any proof of there corruption.
-If legal system pf pakistan says President of pakistan is corrupt because they got some eveidence of that corruption and same system says sharif brother are not corrupt because court find that there is no eveidence of there corruption then we should accept and respect the court decision.
-If we not respect the court and repect only statements of leader that sharif brothers are corrupt then its not good.
If some people of politician got prrof against it then they should go to court.@ Siddique Malik
I think you missed my above question or you decided not to answer? Let me ask again
Can you suggest me any other option if i should not be voting for IK? and as i said no long essay plz?
@kashif: Considering the state of democracy in Pakistan, calling him a "the symbol of democracy in Pakistan" is an apt statement. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
Very respectfully@Javed Hashmi: PTI = Another rope around peoples neck alongside PPP and PMLN.
@Hassan: None.
Imranji says he has the support of the youth. Why couldn't he bring forward new faces? He couldn't find two fresh clean young guys to make them his vice presidents? Why did he have to bring people ignored by their own parties? Why did they have to be Makhdooms? ZA Bhutto brought up new faces. Altaf Hussain brought up new faces. So much for a revolutionary. Who will he depend on once he comes to power? Not the fresh faces I'm sure. Imranji Khan will use the youth as a ladder to climb up to the Power Hill in Islamabad and then kick the ladder away. Like ZA Bhutto did to the poor labours and farmers using the hollow slogan of Roti Kapra and Makan and his daughter and son in law continued. And of course Sharifs and Zardaris - they need no introduction!! I don't see the light anywhere. Do you? Be honest to yourself.
One thing I don't understand why everone always takes the extreme stance usually by hanging their opponent in the public, from leaders like shabaz shreef to javed hashmee to an ordinary person???
Hashmi is the symbol of democracy in pakistan.
what i fail to understand is tht on every talk show PTI members sit quietly when it comes to telling PPP that they have made a mess. PML-N does all the police duty of taking PPP to court questioning their corruption, whereas PTI just cant stop comparing themselves with Prophet (pbuh) and his companions god for bid.
Hashmi uv made a bad choice !!!
hashami saab please dont disgarce your self more. We know you are now repenting why bad choice of sitting with clean peolpe like kasuri, sardar asif, jamal/ awais lehari, jhangir treen and sarwar khan has been made by you.
I guess its a Rope Around Pakistan's Neck :P

I am CONFUSED. If IK can adopt corrupt people in his party, what stops him to not give them party tickets????
@s Malik let me ask you just one liner
Who else you suggest as an option? If not IK?
No long essay plz :)
@Sajjad Hameed: Does that mean JH, IK and others in PTI have no bank accounts ourtside Pakistan? Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
Thats right Mr. Hashmi. Considering you have been a part of PML-N for decades, which has a nefarious corruption record, this is pretty rich coming from you.
The point is simple: If one doesnt vote IK, then one goes for the alternate, which is PPP/PMLN/ANP/MQM.............The way our country has been led during the last few tenures of each of the above political parties and dynasties does not need any interpretation. Politicians failing to work for the people, allowing corrupt policies and beureaucrats to ruin institutions, leading to more poverty and totally ignoring what would happen to the breed of millions of those getting further poor. I do believe this cycle has to break, and I support IK for that, Iv tried and tested the others, Id be an idiot if I trust them again!
Falcon, All that IK's friends need to do to enter politics in Pakistan is to abandon their foreign citizenships! Yes, oon ko kishtiyaa'n jalaanee paRai'n gee!
@siddique malik: he is not even living a lavished life like other politicians. his assets were declared in last elections. NAB has been trying to find a clue against him since 1999 and they could not. u'll have to do some research before commenting here. he did not even support them being in their party. whom would you choose in next elections, zadari? nawaz sharif? or you'll favour Altaf hussain? my reason for voting for imran khan will be beacause he is better than the rest. he did make mistakes while selecting people for his party. but lets just hope that he makes strategies that uproot corruption. and no political party survives without donations. i
@Sehr.Siddiqui: I agree to your point to certain extent. But there is also a flip side to it, which is that Pakistan has been a victim of significant brain drain. So much so, that most of our managerial talent is sitting in other countries. IK has developed relationship with this resource pool over time because of his philanthropic work over the years. He wants to bring some of these people back to Pakistan and get them into politics. That's the only reason he is pursuing dual citizenship issue.
@Khalid Khan: It is their dual nationality which helps such people flee without loss of time. Please try to understand that no other country in the world would Governor, Central Bank, Auditor General,Ministers with dual nationality. The list is un-ending. the argument in favor of dual nationality is foreign remittance. we must know major remittance come from Saudi Arabia,UAE, Kuwait which do not give their nationality despite your having worked there for 30 years or more. This logic is absurd and does not hold ground. Let us not act as herd.
Naee Rahman....ur r right.....! all r entitled to opinion.....
@Siddique Malik: You have made a valid point. IK needs to fully disclose the donations.
I saw IK on TV the other day praising Arif Naqvi to no end for being a great Pakistani businessman. But nowhere did IK disclose in the conversatio that Arif Naqvi had donated USD 20mio.
Was IK only prasing him becuase he had made a donation???
There needs to be full disclosure. A code of ethics needs to be followed...
Those who say old people are joining PTI have no clue about our electoral system. They should also consider that personalities like Asghar Khan, Hashmi and Waleed Iqbal are also in it and these people did not accept corrupt systems or parties. If we don't vote PTI just because of this single view, then we should not regret when the same Mafias come into power again and the country will be totally ruined!!! THINK!
I dont mind old politicians from other parties joining PTI. Why you want Javed Hashmi to stick with Nawz Sharif despite all his wrong doings. He has all right to change party and come under good leadership.
And yes I hope that Imran will never give ticket to corrupt politician. Why people think that "old" and "corrupt" are synonyms.
The entire Pakistani system is corrupt.
I have lost hope that any body can practically change the system.
There is no other way except that Pakistan needs a revolution and I do not think that in the present circumstances we have any revolutionary leader who can lead the nation and change the fate of the country.
Excluding Imran Khan, now PTI is no different than other political party of Pakistan – full of opportunists who try to accumulate wealth or fame through their political clout.
Before rally at Lahore, there was hardly any “heavy weight” who believed in PTI. But when those so called heavy weight saw a change in masses they abandoned their party and joined PTI. Now PTI is as polluted as any other party. Before worrying about corrupt politicians in other parties please first clean PTI. Look at their track record and put a rope around them.
I think if "lotas" are not given tickets by the PTI leaders at the time of the election, they would be in a very bad position to switch the party again. Hope IK looks closely at their past.
Hashmi Sahib, would you declare your assets before entering in to politics? How much agriculture land you bought after joining politics?
Hashmi the grate. Biggest leader in Pakistan today. Thank God he joined PTI.
@ siddique Malik, the reason that he switched party was not because he wanted to come into power, probably u r unaware of the sacrifices he made. had he been wanting that he could have shook hands with musharraf and even zardari. he was loyal to nawaz sharif because he had been in his party for so long, and he believed being a very important leader he could force the other leadership in taking decisions for the betterment of country. he had to change the party because he was not being heard.besides who says PTI will make the government? the chances are they have to sit in the opposition. as far his assets are concerned, give one proof of him being corrupt.
This statement by Mr. Hashmi shows how politicians try to fool the people. To whom is he referring when he talks about corrupt politicians? Would the Shariff brothers be among them? Until not long ago, Mr. Hashmi was their disciple. So if he is sure that they are corrupt --- which they are -- what took him so long to leave them? By the way, has Mr. Hashmi declared all his assets and source of income? What is his source of income? Politics? Mr. Hashmi, you, Imran Khan, PTI and most of Pakistani politicians and parties are out there to exploit and confuse the people. The fact that you jumped ship just to stay on right side of power -- you have concluded that PTI will win the next election and your previous partners, the Shariff brothers, will not -- shows that you have no principle, and people with no principle are dishonest and potentially corrupt. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
Hashimi shaib, all you earn is Respect.
even if we don't consider PTI able enough to rule the country, we cant deny they're less harmful/more loyal to Pakistan. Aleast for this reason vote for PTI. We don't need masters, we need friends
IK has been calling on the people to become stakeholders to a better Pakistan, one based on: compassion, humanity, good governance, transparency, justice, hard work, motivation, hope, fearlessness, education, respect for minority rights, inclusivness etc.
These are broad policy statements that his opposition either doesnt have the credibility to make or their previous record doesn't allow them to.
@Naeem ur Rehman: Kindly refrain from correlating the integrity of Pakistan with PTI coming into power. You are doing a great disservice to the nation by making such comments.
To prove its bona fide, PTI will have to expel corrupts from its rank and file. It has people who cases are Lying before Customs for heroin smuggling in their rice containers and bank write off. There is a list of corruption charges against a good number of new entrants. People are worried about the changing stances of this party. PTI's stance on dual nationality is beyond comprehension. Water Commissioner runs away because his dual nationality. So is case with paliamentarians and senior Government servants.
Well said Hashmi sahib. Completely agree.
