PESHAWAR:

Musical evenings and festivals might be a common affair in the federal capital but not in the provincial capital. This is why students of the University of Peshawar savoured every moment of the “Winter Mega Festival” held at the Garrison Club, on Tuesday.

Students from various universities attended the event and rocked to the tunes of local bands like The Dark Road, Yaqeen, Dhun and Youth Club, in addition to famous Pushto and Indian cover songs.

Wajeeha, a student, said such events should be organised more often. “With the current wave of terrorism, people hesitate to step out of their houses but events like these provide an opportunity to relax and have a good time,” she said. She was seconded by students concurred.

The organisers left nothing out, with 30 stalls set up by students selling fast-food items and local delicacies as well as clothes, jewellery, sports gear and even homeopathic products.

Babar Ali Raisani, one of the organisers, said the event was arranged to provide entertainment to students and explore their hidden talent.

The event was organised by the university’s management studies department in collaboration with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation.
