KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has asked government officials to explain why 101 teachers who were hired have not been told where they are going to be posted.

Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Imam Bux Baloch also directed the education secretary to file comments on the petition within two weeks.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Abdul Aziz Khoso and 100 other petitioners who were hired as teachers for government schools.

Their lawyer, Shoua-un Nabi, told the court that the teachers were given offer letters after they passed the written test, interview, medical examination and police verification.

He referred to two judgments, one each by the SHC’s division bench in Karachi and Hyderabad on May 4, 2011 and June 1, 2011 in which identical appeals were made and 2,000 people were given jobs.

After hearing their lawyer, the court issued notice to the government officials.
