Institutions not to be affected by political deadlocks: CJ
Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said that the institutions should not be affected by political deadlocks. He was hearing the petitions challenging various provisions of the 18th amendment in the Supreme Court on Thursday.
During the proceedings, counsel for the federation Wasim Sajjad defended the formation of judicial commission, saying that it is not in conflict with the constitution. He noted that lawyers will be represented by the attorney general while the federation will be represented by federal ministers in the commission.
Chief Justice Iftikhar also took exception of the vacant offices of NAB chairman and four Election Commission officials due to political deadlock.
The hearing has been postponed until Monday.
