The decision was taken after a nine-member bench admitted the application filed by Haqqani’s Counsel Asma Jehangir, who sought time to deliberate over more points in the petition after the Supreme Court handed down the order on December 30.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had constituted an 11-member bench to hear Haqqani’s review petition.
The petition had challenged the court’s order on formation of a commission, and appointment of chief justices of three high courts to investigate the scandal.
In the review, Jehangir said the court did not have the authority to issue directions to judges of High Courts to constitute a commission.

@mirza and tahir thanks for the info.
We all are obliged to think democratic way to get freedom from shakles and shields!
@Mirza and mohammad naeem .....as well as in Japan and Switzerland. While in the US, judges of supreme court are appointed but in few states, high court judges are elected. I think, this idea should compel a truly democratic-blogger write on!
Judges should also be elected in national elections. This will make them accountable to people and not like gods.. A novel idea!?
@John B: For got it totally wrong pal, it is a review petition.
So, what does indefinite adjournment mean? The deal has been reached between the government and the institutions?
By the time, the next hearing occurs, the country will be in the midst of next election preparation, and all will be forgotten.
We had enough of "memogate". Please do not drag it like NRO and others, which leaves dark clouds hanging over the accused on unfounded accusations. Convict or acquit after full investigation ASAP.
What we call 'selective justice'?
