On the run: Detainee escapes police custody

The accused found opportunity in the unscheduled stop and jumped off the vehicle and fled.

HARIPUR: A man booked for possession of narcotics escaped from police custody in Chamba Pind on Sunday. The accused, Muhammad Iqbal, son of Bostan Khan, was being taken to Kotnajibullah police station in handcuffs when the one of the police officers, Sub-Inspector Zarbat Khan, stopped to buy a pack of cigarettes. The accused found opportunity in the unscheduled stop and jumped off the vehicle and fled. The police team chased the accused but failed to catch him. Acting DPO Muhammad Arif confirmed the report and said that they are looking for the accused.
