The prayers, held in Cavalry Ground, were attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and attended by her close family members.
Her coffin was draped in the national flag. She was 16.
The teenage genius suffered an attack on that which had given her recognition and made her a source of inspiration for young and old across the country – her brain. Arfa had an epileptic attack on December 22 and had been in a coma since, while well-wishers prayed and watched her progress closely.
On December 29, doctors said there was no hope for her survival, and that her life support could be switched off “at any time”. However, she had then miraculously responded to certain stimuli, as recently as January 13.
Two more funeral prayers will be held for Arfa, one in Faislabad and another in her ancestral village where she is to be buried.
Condolences
As Pakistanis mourned the loss of the child prodigy, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani also expressed grief and sorrow over Arfa’s demise. According to a statement released late on Saturday night, Gilani prayed for the departed soul and that Allah grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
Jamaat-e-Islami head Syed Munawar Hasan and Karachi chief Mohammad Hussain Mehanti also expressed grief at the death. Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain said in a statement that Pakistan has lost "precious talent" in Arfa Karim. He expressed grief at Arfa’s demise and has sympathised with the bereaved family members and prayed for Arfa’s soul.

Arfa Karim Randhawa was a beautiful light in our world. Arfa Karim was also a young Ambassador for Pakistan, and in her there was much hope for all of us since it is often the young who open people's hearts in this world. People outside her family could see that she grew up loved and encouraged to follow her dreams and goals. This is a testament to her parents of a job well done. I will pray for her family and friends, we mourn your loss with you.
may Allah give you haven & we really proud to you we love you forever

Dear Express Tribune, could you please consider to have your next story popup with an x on the side of it so that we can remove it if we prefer ? the next story popup makes it cumbersome to read the opinions of your readers. Thanks and no offence .
@MUNIB: - Mr Munib, Sir many sikh and panjabi Indians have the same family name as this young lady and yet we are pointing missiles at wach other ? she even looks like some of my relatives ...i agree totally with you , our indian side has to do the same as what you so wisely suggested.
We are all grieving over the untimely passing away of Arfa. May Allah grant her eternal abode in Jannah and grant her family the courage to bear the loss. Ameen.
May ALLAH bless her soul!!!!!!!!!
Only the good die young! Only the good.. :' ( RIP Arifa Daughter of Pakistan
An innocent girl dies of illness and instead of accepting the inevitable fate of life and death, you take this as an opportunity to berate a nation and people. Unfortunately children die of illness and injury the world over. It is only the hubris of man which feels that everyone can be cured of a terminal illness. I only wish that people like you can be given hidayat to see things clearly and to comment properly. May God bless her soul.
ALLAH TA"ALA ARFA ki rooh ko karvat karvat jannat naseeb karien aur us k darjat bulund farmayien, ghar walun aur ehl o ayal ko sabr ata karien aur is honhaar ladki ko jannat k ala tareen makam par faiz karien AMEEN SUMA AMEEN
ye wo ladki HAI, jis ne is mulk ki bay'loos khidmat ki----PAKISTAN LOVED U< LOVES U N WILL ALWAYS LOVE U INSHA"ALLAH Miss ARFA KAREEM
Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die
Yes, I have all Microsoft and other vendor certifications and 1000s of other Pakistanis have it to. It's not a big deal to get certification. Since we have no accomplishment in Pakistan we start celebrating that a young girl passing an exam that anyone can memorize and pass. You have to memorize about 200 multiple choice questons and that is it. WHat apps did she build? Show me one app please @the Skunk:
i m very very sorry arfa to heard about u bt we all r here for limited time and we all have to go there may Allah rest your soul in piece and gives your family courage to beared such a big loss .and i dont have any words to appreciate your talent its superb.. salute to your mother...
No words just the tears..Indeed you are at better place.
Arfa was the daughter of the nation, so she was everyone's daughter and that is why we are all so upset. She has made us all very proud of her achievements. The least the Pakistan government can do is set up an IT University in memory of her, she deserves it and much more. Pakistani's that live abroad could sponsor education and awards to children in Pakistan who have the potential but not the facilities to become proficient in IT, it will build towards the vision that Arfa had for Pakistan. I salute her parents who brought up and encouraged her in every way for her to achieve what she did in her very short life. She is a great loss to our nation and it makes me extremely sad but Allah knows best.
may god bless u in jannatt ulfardous.no doubt u will remain alive as an honour for our country and u faimly also. randhwa sb. allah apko sabre jameel atta farmae.
May ALLAH ALLMIGHTY in HIS infinite mercy keep her in JANNATUL FIRDAUS and keep her in the company of HIS chosen ones. Ameen. Summa Ameen.
may god bless u in jannat.no doubt u will remain alive as an honour for our country and u faimly also.
Sad not just for Pakistan, but fr whole world. May God rest her soul in peace. Also some food for thought about her disease. She had been using computer excessively from a very young age. Excessive use of computers at tender age is well know tho trigger epilepsy (http://www.phcohealth.com/advicesheets/Epilepsy.pdf).. Problem is more among girls. Wish I am wrong, however, in my view her excessive use of computers might have been the cause of her epilepsy also. Hope her doctors will study her disease from this angle and have informed debate on the whole issue.
we willu mis u arfa sister
arfa is a very sweet girl may allah rest her soul in peace ameen such a nice girl
no wrds,, kal hee tumhay jana tha,, aaj tum bichar b gyin,,
The death of aarifa karim is because of our politics.. Why none of the the politician paid attention to her when she was fighting for her life in hospital and was waiting that the nation would her her but none, and when she died politician came to her funeral.
I deeply shocked to hear the news of untimely sad demise of Arfa Karim Randhawa, a glittering star of the nation. No doubt it is a great and irreparable loss for us but we bow our heads before Allah's will. May Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace in heaven and grant the courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with patience and fortitude Ameen. I would request the authorities in government to recognize the talent of innocent child who gave broader inspiration to our new generation to come forward and show that we have the potentials to exhibit ourselves at world level and we are not the case as known.
Arfa karim is dead, may Allah bless her soul and give her a place in Jannah.Zara nam ho yeh matti bari zarkhaiz hai saki, our country has no dearth of brains, only a dearth of proper training, even if gaining an MCP is not a big achievement, its still big for a 9 year old and it can't be just attributed to her brilliant brain but her parent's proper upbringing, so don't let your daughter's brains go waste, by telling them from childhood that the only goal they should've in life, is to get married, teach them and educate them and you will have many more arfas, all is not lost.
I believe I have lost my own daughter. I am really crying for such a great loss to PAKISTAN. May Allah give the departed soul highest place in heavens and give patience to the grieved family and friend. Amin Summa Amin YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED my daughter.
May Allah rest her Soul in Peace....Ameen
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
May I request all the IT professionals of Pakistan and expats to bring her dream into reality of creating an IT valley similar to Silicon valley.... I think this only would be a fitting tribute to the genius we just lost. May Allah bless her and keep His vigil on all precious talented children of this nation.
You are not dead my little sister, because you left hope for entire nation. You have created a road map for entire generation that we have got a lot of potential. You will be rememberd in pages of history.
Arfa was a great blessing for Pakistan loss of a youngest illuminator of Pakistan is huge. But we just pray .May she rests in Heaven. Ameeen

Sad day for Pakistan & Pakistanis. She could have taken this country to new heights of success but it seems that we surely are jinxed.
My heart shed a silent tear for this wonderful and angelic child..
May ALLAH ALLMIGHTY in HIS infinite mercy keep her in JANNATUL FIRDAUS and keep her in the company of HIS chosen ones. Ameen. Summa Ameen.

@Abdul Wahaab: An innocent girl dies of illness and instead of accepting the inevitable fate of life and death, you take this as an opportunity to berate a nation and people. Unfortunately children die of illness and injury the world over. It is only the hubris of man which feels that everyone can be cured of a terminal illness. I only wish that people like you can be given hidayat to see things clearly and to comment properly. May God bless her soul.
I have a question. What program did she ever write? What was her contribution to technology? Anyone whose parent want to make them pass Microsoft exam can do that but does it really mean anything?
Are we so bankrupt that we celebrate someone passing a Microsoft certification? Is this invention? Is this progress? I know Tribune will publish my comment and if they did I will be hated. I am sorry for this girl as much as anyone else. I just don't know if that's prodigy. Look it up in dictionary.
salute..salute...salute...thats all one can do to a prodigy.
I just cannot express my anguish at the death of this sweet little child. I hope God gives her parents the strength to overcome this incomparable loss. What a waste and whoever is up there making these decisions got it wrong this time.
A sad news indeed.
"The teenage genius suffered an attack on that which had given her recognition and made her a source of inspiration for young and old across the country – her brain"
A reputed publication such as Express Tribune should ensure the quality of language and grammar.
O my god what should I say big loss
O my god I what should I say I don't have words to say her very big loss
she was very nice and brillient girl.May Allah soul her rest in peace

You did what Pakistan could not do in 64 years..You are a national pride and sign of courage to all, old and young. Though we can not stand by the bereaved parents for their loss, but I being an elderly bro pray for their endurance and you be rest in peace.Yours is a national loss.
Proud of having you among us. I dont write were or was, as you have been and are and will remain alive in our hearts and mind.

This is huge lost for Pakistan. May Allah rest her soul in Peace Aameen. She would always be remembered as a source of inspiration for Pakistani children and I hope PASHA/PSEB and Government would take some initiatives in coming future to start giving some best performance child awards on her name.
A great loss, not only for her parents but also for the entire Pakistani nation. She will always remain a source of inspiration for the children of Pakistan. May Allah Taala bless her soul with eternal peace.
Thank you for being a beacon of inspiration for all children and especially female children of Pakistan. I am sure you are at a better place wherein the Merciful envelops you with his mercy and grace. Peace.

In The Name Of "Arfa Karim"
"That when you die your life goes on It doesn’t end here when you’re gone Every soul is filled with light It never ends and if I’m right Our love can even reach across eternity I believe, I believe
Forever, you’re a part of me Forever, in the heart of me And I’ll hold you even longer if I can The people who don’t see the most Say that I believe in ghosts And if that makes me crazy, then I am ‘Cause I believe
There are more than angels watching over me I believe, I believe"
