LAHORE: The Electronic Media Reporters Association (EMRA) is going to hold a protest on the first death anniversary of Geo TV reporter Wali Khan Babar in Lahore on Friday.

Wali Khan Babar was shot dead on January 13 last year in Liaquatabad No. 1 near the Apwa school in Karachi as he was going home from office. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) was tasked with the case.

Its JIT concluded that Babar was followed soon after he left his office at Shaheen Complex that day.

In April last year, five men arrested in another case by the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police had confessed to Babar’s murder during a routine interrogation. The detained men are Muhammad Shahrukh Khan, Faisal Muhammad, Muhammad Shakeel, Syed Tahir Naveed Shah and Syed Muhammad Ali Rizvi. They are awaiting trial. The absconding men wanted in the case include Faisal ‘Mota’, Asad, Nasir, Kamran and Saeed ‘Commando’.

Reporters of the electronic media will gather at Faisal Chowk today in front of the Punjab Assembly at 5.00 pm and will light candles in remembrance on the occasion.

In the case of Wali Baber (a brave reporter) police has arrested more then 40 innocents in which 5 of them were nominated because they accepted after the cruel torture of police that they do it and now police has doubled cross after catching these innocents and making blind the journalisms by their politics
